Scale fluctuates by a few pounds within the same minute?

I've been really focusing on getting fitter and trying to lose a few pounds lately, so have been weighing myself. I stepped on the scale last night, stepped off, then stepped back on again, and the weight changed by 3 lbs! I moved it to another area in case that one wasn't level enough, and it did the same thing, just by 2 lbs! I know weight can fluctuate, but I have a hard time believing it can fluctuate by a few pounds in under a minute. 🤣 Any idea why it could be doing this?

Mine do that too, but I always trust the lower one. 😄

Buy a more forgiving scale.

@Fungirlmmm ....or at least a more consistent one.
If you’re weighing yourself on carpet it could be inadequate and if you’re weighing yourself on hard floors/bathroom floors and then weighing yourself on a fluffy carpet in your bedroom then it’s definitely inadequate and will get very different results.

@Gingerbreadspice I was weighing on tile, then moved it to concrete.

Time for a new scale

Get a good scale. Don't pay attention to fluctuations. weigh yourself first thing in the morning, before you eat or drink anything and right after you pee (with nothing on). That will set a standard that you can measure. I hope this helps.

Scales can be weird. Water weight fluctuates with weight change and muscle gain so it's not always the best way to know

It gives you room for cottage cheese in the morning

My wife has a scale like that drives her crazy

It sounds like your scale is the problem, not you.

Scales lie, proven fact.😁
Time to change the batteries

@Tminus6453 Yes it is! I've had it for about three years now, but only noticed it last night!
