Can you explain Thunder to me?

I’ve heard a few explanations but as a College Grad, I still don’t really understand it.

Cause of Thunder Noise

Rapid Air Expansion
Thunder noise is primarily caused by the rapid expansion of air surrounding a lightning bolt. When lightning strikes, it heats the air to extremely high temperatures, reaching up to 54,000 degrees Fahrenheit (about 30,000 degrees Celsius). This intense heat causes the air to expand explosively.

Shock Wave Creation
The rapid expansion of heated air creates a shock wave, which is what we hear as thunder. This shock wave can vary in sound depending on several factors, including the distance from the lightning strike and the atmospheric conditions.

A lightning bolt super heats the air around it, causing the AIR to explode. THAT is thunder.

The dark clouds are rubbing against each other, that's as far as I heard about thunder.
