Do you like thunderstorms?

Its getting close to 30something degrees here, (that's 90⁰ in yanky fucktardidans)....and then we're forecast for a really nice thunderstorm🤩

When it starts imma gonna sit outside and just bask in all its dark and awsome stormyness.

Saying i love thunderstorms isnt enough to express how i feel about them.
Its a vibe.
Its a real sensory thing for me.
I actually still feel like i did as a kid, about thunderstorms.

I get excited at the first roll of thunder or flash of lightning.
If they pass over too quick i get really disappointed.

Ill stand in the middle of the yard just so i can see as much lightening as possible.

And i love that big heavy splotchy rain that comes with them 🤗

Many years ago, I was standing on the second floor of the iron fire escape to my apartment, when a huge lightening bold struck a very big tree about 50 feet away. I watched large, burning branches fly by my face, at which point I went inside. I heard nothing but I loud ringing in my ears for about 3 hours.

The tree was struck all the way to the ground, and died.

The power of lightening is greater than most people know, other than those who've witnessed it. Enjoy the show, but please be careful.

@OogieBoogie oh, yeah. It knocked me back.
I absolutely love thunderstorms, Oogie.
The crack of thunder rolling across the sky.The steady rain tapping on my roof.
It’s loud, but somehow. Hard to explain. it quiets me.
It’s fierce... but it makes me feel safe.
Falling asleep to a storm is a kind of calm very few things give me.
@Bexsy Omigosh...THIS is how they make me feel.
Excited.... but sorta soothed.

I feel all the air come down to the ground and press in on me. And the sky lowers and its all dark and weirdly cozy - like the earth has a cloud blanket.

Hehe....we do that here. When my daughter lived here, if it started to rain or storm, we'd just both wordlessly get up to lock the doors and turn off the tv and have an early night coz we both felt nothing beats lying in bed, all snug as a bug - listening to rain🥰
@OogieBoogie yes, exactly. you get it 🥰

I’m jealous! But our local weather guy said we may get one on Wednesday. Don’t forget to collect some storm water too!
@SageWanderer oh.... that's a good idea - my plants will love some rainwater!

Thanks for that🤗....it completely skipped my mind.
I better go clean some buckets
SageWanderer · 70-79, M
@OogieBoogie Not to mention adding some charged water to a bath!

There's nothing better on a hike or camp, the feeling of sheltering when there's a dramatic storm going on outside.
I can usually sense one brewing and find somewhere to shelter or quickly pitch a tent, the sound of the rain is the most relaxing thing ever!
I enjoy them when I'm in bed too, I often get up and look at the lightning through the window as the rain lashes against the glass, a free show courtesy of mother nature.

Usually yes....big time.
The downside where I live are the dry thunderstorms in summer.

I did .. until seeing what big, powerful tornados spun out of them did to places they hit ..

This hit about 12-15 miles from our house at the time.

we rarely get them. can't remember the last time we had one. but then again i live at or below sea level... we had lots when i lived in ontario though...pretty wicked too.
@beermeplease that's a bit of a bummer.☹
@OogieBoogie actually no...the mountains and ocean is just a hop, skip and a jump...i'm very near the north shore mountains of vancouver and the ferry to take me to vancouver island and close enough to the beginning of our pretty country where @FreeorLonely lives...
FreeorLonely · 51-55, F
@beermeplease ya we get the shaft!
ScreamingFox · 41-45, F

Oh yes ..I find them calming
@pituitarypendulum that's what @Bexsy said too !

I agree. Its a weird soothing-ness. Like the sky comes down and envelops you .....and then puts on a show.

And the SMELL ! 🤩
@OogieBoogie oh yes ! It's amazing
exexec · 70-79, C
I enjoy a good summer thunderstorm and sometimes sit and watch them. We have some amazing lightning shows around here.

Yes, especially if I’m inside.

LOVE thunderstorms! Would love to see one down there
@FreeorLonelyMe too!
They still give me goosebumps 🥰

Summer ones are AWESOME : The rain is usually warm, so it's really nice to go out and stand in them🤗

@OogieBoogie Element of excitement I think. A reminder of power beyond us.
@cloroxontherocks oh.

I kinda get that just from a normal storm. I mean, its amazing - all that pressure, all that force....amd then it spews it out in bursts of such great electrical volume - it lights up the whole sky !

No wonder people imagined Gods
DDonde · 31-35, M
Love them. One of the things I like about summer
@DDonde ...same🤗
Yes! Excellent units conversion too.
I figured you’d love the thunder because you come from a land down under. 😅
@OlderSometimesWiser 😄
