1900 Galveston orphanage

So much history on that tiny island. I remember going there in the early/mid 70s with my parents and grandparents and going into the bunkers built up to shoot Nazi submarines. Many people don’t know they were a 100 yards off the coast. Then you think about the 1900 Hurricane and back into the 1800s the impact of the island. Good stuff.

They made a human chain of 8,000+ people in Galveston this weekend to represent the number of lives lost in the storm, a number that is still unknown. It set a record for the world's longest human chain.
