Snow here in Atlanta

We had snow and it was so cold, no work as well. Too difficult to drive there.

As a Massachusetts resident, this almost seems funny to me. I just read that you got 1.1 inches of snow! 🤣🤣🤣

When I worked for Harvard Pilgrim, I used to be part of the "storm crew", and I drove 26 miles during a blizzard and 10" of snow to get to work...and no, I did NOT have 4 wheel drive...🤣🤣🤣

@4meAndyou where you’re from it probably had been very cold for days. But here in the South, the ground temperature usually isn’t below freezing when the snow hits, so it’s most if the time turned into ice. And there’s the rub. Nothing to driving on snow, driving on ice, whole different ballgame.

@Nighttalker Yes, we drive on ice. But we are trained early how to turn into a skid.

@4meAndyou I know how to turn in a skid. Most do.
I was in East Lansing, Michigan on a Sunday afternoon. It had been relatively warm for February up until a cold front whipped through bringing snow with it. I left the arena where we’d been all weekend & proceeded to drive south. This was very close to the type weather we get in the South. Temps fell rapidly & so did the snow. There were piles of cars in ditches within 15 minutes of the snow starting, most all with Michigan plates on them. My T-Bird with Tennessee plates, cruised right through them headed home. Scared hell out of my passenger a few times, but did we wreck or wreck anyone else, no. But there were dozens and dozens of Michigan tagged cars in the ditch as we drive along. So don’t tell me it’s only Southern people who can’t drive on snow & ice.

@Nighttalker Wow. Actually, I lived in Lansing for almost 2 years. The state government had NO money for snow plowing while I lived there, in 2008-2010. I guess that living in Massachusetts spoiled me. At the first sign of snow, plows and salt trucks are on the highways immediately. I was really, really shocked that the snow on the major highways was not plowed! I had never seen such a thing!

In 1998 we also drove to Lansing and back through Chicago, where there was a lake effect blizzard going on. We were in a van, carrying a huge load of silver-plated flatware back to Massachusetts, so the back of the van was enormously heavy. I think that's the ONLY reason we made it through, because cars were skidding off the sides of the road all around us!

I'm sorry if you find my minor disagreement with your snow stories irritating, though. Really.

@4meAndyou It’s not you! Trust me.
