It is 90 freaking degrees (Fahrenheit). In San Francisco.

All the windows are open and there’s still virtually no breeze.
October 1st. Summer, part 2…🥵
craig7 · 70-79, M
90 degrees is hot for the start of October in your city.My nephew and his partner are visiting San Francisco for the first time this week - they'll appreciate the weather after just avoiding the hurricane in Georgia at the end of last week.
@craig7 Oh, wow ! I felt a little guilty complaining with Helene on the warpath in the South. 🥺
craig7 · 70-79, M
@bijouxbroussard Some time before my nephew left Australia - and knowing that his visit to the U.S. included Georgia and Louisiana - I mentioned that September was Atlantic hurricane season.I hope that he doesn't think that his old uncle put a hex on him!
SeaGlass · F
That's pretty rough on a San Franciscan 🤗 It's actually cooler than that today in the deep south

If you have ice packs, put them under your sheet near your feet tonight. It makes a huge difference! And you can do this while you rest during the day, too.
@SeaGlass Thank you ! I will try that. 👍🏽

90 in The City? In October???
And not a city known for it's air conditioning. That's unreal.
Ynotisay · M
@bijouxbroussard Did it move out? Are people losing it? :)
@Ynotisay It’s 83 now, supposed to stay in that range until around 4pm.
Ynotisay · M
@bijouxbroussard Still. 83 there isn't like 83 in other places. I've got family inland a bit and they're looking at 105 today. Mommy Nature is pissed.
It's the default temperature at my city.

I'm used to it, But I got a huge and loud fan that can literally push people away.
@LifeIsShort My best friend recently moved to Sacramento. I visited in July and it was over 100 degrees (F) every day I was there. Since she’s from the Bay Area too, I don’t know how she manages being outside.
@bijouxbroussard I avoid direct sun light as much as possible.

Also I shower at least twice a day, Its a pleasure to shower on a hot day.

I can't handle cold places 🥶
@LifeIsShort In really hot weather I get prickly heat. It was the scourge of my existence when I went to school down South.
i'll take that over low 50s and cloud...i think flying time is only 2-1/2 hours from here...pick me up from the airport? 😋
@beermeplease I would absolutely love low 50s and cloudy ! That’s actually more typical SF weather.
@bijouxbroussard i've never been to the bay area. would love to visit some time. preferably when my soccer team travels down there in san jose...or my hockey team

Our wedding was on October 4th, and it was 85°F in NYC, a few years later my sister-in-law's wedding was on October 7th, and it was 90°F.
Today, the high temperature was 71°F.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
Wow, I bet very few homes or offices are even air conditioned.
@samueltyler2 Many of the older ones especially (like mine) are not.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@bijouxbroussard I was there one year during a heatwave, it was awful!
Lucky 🥲

We were at 107° yesterday... Today it's 105°
@ChiefWalksWith40oz Woah ! Yes, it definitely could’ve been worse. My best friend lives Sacramento, where temps are that high (and higher). She has air conditioning, of course. I don’t because this is a really old building. Lots of old buildings don’t have a/c and they’re not required to upgrade, because it rarely gets that hot here.
@bijouxbroussard no AC makes it 10 times worse 😭 damn that's not coolio. Because yeah fans barely do much at 90° & up.. you basically gotta sit right in front of them. & You probably got more humidity there since you're closer to water.

If you feel overheated, you should maybe take a cold shower or bath. I always do that whenever I get home exhausted from the heat
@ChiefWalksWith40oz Yes. It’s supposed to be a little cooler today, possibly 80 f, for a few hours, then down to the 60s again. We’ll see.
Lugwho · 56-60, M
Our hottest day this year was 77°F.
Lugwho · 56-60, M
@bijouxbroussard We can only dream of those temperatures. A pleasant 57°F today.
@Lugwho When I visited the UK (London) it was rainy and foggy just about all the time. It reminded me of San Francisco when I was a child.
Lugwho · 56-60, M
@bijouxbroussard London is generally warmer than Scotland, usually 10 °F warmer. You were probably unlucky with the weather.
tindrummer · M
You don't have a/c?
@tindrummer I think climate change is also why we have more hot days. When I visited a cousin who lived in London during the early 90s, I marveled because it was foggy and rainy during the entire week I stayed. It almost made me homesick. 😅
tindrummer · M
@bijouxbroussard Any chance of fog this evening to cool you off?
@tindrummer Not that I’m seeing forecast but it is starting to come down a little. There’s an "Excessive Heat Warning" throughout the Bay Area today.
Zaphod42 · 46-50, M
Damn! I think it only got up to 75 or 80 here today…a mile from the ocean in Orange County
@Zaphod42 Usually being closer to the water means cooler temps. But today that just means, if we’re frying, folks in inland cities like Concord and Fremont are dying. 🥵
greensnacks · 31-35, F
Meanwhile Europe is getting colder by the minute
@greensnacks Wow, really ? 🙁
OverTheHill · 56-60, M
JaggedLittlePill · 46-50, F
I am sorry...right now I am under two blankets with my cozy jacket on...in my house. 🤣😂
@JaggedLittlePill That sounds a bit more like fall weather. What city is this ?
JaggedLittlePill · 46-50, F
@bijouxbroussard Chicago burbs
ugh, I could imagine this in San Jose but not in SF ... SF is somewhere I'd normally think of as an escape from heat

I hate what's happening to this planet
MethDozer · M
It's okay Global warming isn't real
