Changing seasons

Now that we are in September who is ready for some fall weather

Floating out in Nantucket Sound right now counting the days to the end of the season when the boats get hauled out. Once they are out, then I will focus on Fall. For now it is still boating time. 😌

@4meAndyou just recently learned to cook something from my mom. Would love to taste your menu, women are good at this I suppose.

@teachmetiger210503 I slice up and core about 10 to 12 apples, unpeeled, (because I like the texture), and cook them in an aluminum foil covered "blanket", covered heavily with cinnamon and pumpkin pie spice, all on top of a cookie sheet. I don't skimp on the spice. I bake them at 350F for 45 minutes, and then I spray a 14 x10 baking pan and put the apples on the bottom of the pan. Then I cover the apples with about 2 cups of chopped walnuts. I put the 13x10 baking pan on top of another cookie baking sheet with a raised edge, and pour about a cup or two of water onto the cookie sheet so the baking pan is sitting in a water bath. I leave the oven on, at 350F.

Then I make the custard in my blender. I usually have to do it in two to three blenders full...12-18 eggs, depending on my mood, a can of pumpkin, a cup or more of Splenda, 2 tsps of vanilla, and about 2/3 of a quart of milk or a little more. I mix it all up in a huge bowl, because no one's blender is big enough.

I've learned from experience to place the baking pan with the apples and walnuts ON the oven rack, and THEN I pour the custard mix over the apples and walnuts. Then, holding my breath, I carefully slide the rack into the oven...because that pan is VERY full...🤣🤣🤣 And I bake it for an hour.
