How are the winters in the UK

My boyfriend and I are always talking about weather. He cant stand the cold the winters in Pennsylvania are usually 30s and 40s f which dont bother me. He is so whiny about how cold it is and that he wants us to move to a warmer place. The winters in other places are much harsher. Like places more north like say england its winters are regularly colder than 30f. I dont know.

Mostly cold damp and dark, temperature varies from just below 0c to around 10c.
It's definitely a bit warmer than it was when I was younger, well more milder days.
Winter gets me down, it's miserable cold not nice cold.

@Scarfface yeh the damp here is too much
Scarfface · 46-50, M
@Gangstress way too wet 🙁
Could be worse though.

In Scotland winter isn't too bad. We get some snow, but not too much. The hills are white, but the low country is OK most of the time. Lots of rain in the west and it's pretty dark - but some lovely dawns and sunsets to make up for it, and geese to listen to, brilliant stars in the sky at night and quieter roads.

I was just talking to a lady from Romania, i asked what she doesn't like about England she said rain lol 😆

@PurpleBearCub hey we want them .keep your nose out
Oh my God!! I spent 6 winters in the UK during late 70’s and early 80’s …. it was horrible… cold and windy … sometime without snowing, the trees got frozen…

Some people just can’t handle the cold, i’m one of them, we are all different🙂

It’s usually about 5-10c in the day if in England. The east coast much drier than the west. Was only about 30f last week at night. I had ice inside of my car and one early morning before Christmas temperature measured -7c. That’s not typical for southern England.

Definitely not as harsh as yours - the U.K. gets a jet stream from the mid Atlantic, so even though it’s quite northern, the weather is very rarely extreme. We’ve had -5, -7 recently, but that’s because of high pressure and no cloud cover.

Cold just above freezing mostly but very wet and dark as we're as North as Canada so days are lot shorter
In recent years very mild..until this year.
Been below or barely above freezing for weeks.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
Wet and dull, but rarely extremely co!d. January and February do drag on a bit.
