Would I need a jacket in Ontario July/august month? Would it ever get cold? Does it get rainy?

I did some research on the weather but I prefer to hear from people who have been there.
Take one anyway and you can be a jacket potato....

Depends where in Ontario, Northern part, it can dip below 20C in the evenings and night in late August, central and southern Ontario, it seldom goes below 20-25C even at night and can get very hot and humid nearer the lakes, 35C+. You'll be fine with a light, single layer jacket, make it a waterproof one in case it rains 😊

@spjennifer Thank you very much, very useful information 🥔😚

@BittersweetPotato YW, honestly, I would wait till you arrive and then just buy a cheap $20-30 jacket at a Walmart for the use you'll get out of it, less hassle that way 😃

@spjennifer Good idea as well! 🥔

Yes you probably will. My friend went to a wedding in Canada in the summer and she was not prepared for how cool it was up there…we were having an extended record-setting heat wave in Oklahoma and when she got there her host let her borrow a jacket and she went to a store and bought some warm clothing.

@cherokeepatti Thank you 😚🥔

@BittersweetPotato She was there for a week and it never got warm…I don’t know how often that happens or if they have spells of heat a few times in the summer where they need a/c or what. Be prepared though.

You will normally not need a jacket in the summer but you may need something to keep the rain off of you. Sometimes there are colder days but they're uncommon. Climate change also means weather is unpredictable.

Of course, how you acclimate to the new climate is going to matter a lot.

@CountScrofula You are right.. I can't remember if you are one of the friends who know where I live exactly lol but the weather here is usually just a burning sun, dry and sometimes we have sand storms.. although it does get humid as well! I'd rather be prepared, and a jacket won't take up the entire suitcase! Plus I will have to use it at some point when I leave for good to Canada!
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
@BittersweetPotato So what's the plan rn? You're in for a scouting mission?
BittersweetPotato · 31-35, F
@CountScrofula I am so in lol I will be in Canada for three weeks this summer, and I plan on visiting Toronto, Ottawa and Quebec! I hope I am not too ambitious and that i will manage to plan well and visit all places.. Next year around now or earlier, will make my final move :) Scared but excited.

You`ll need snow boots and a heavy down filled coat. 🤭
BittersweetPotato · 31-35, F
@Degbeme Thank you for trying to keep potato warm 🥔🥴
BittersweetPotato · 31-35, F
@Degbeme Idk though if it is worth investing in another jacket now just for this trip, because I prefer to buy all my jackets from Canada once I get there permanently (already bought two jackets and sort of regret it ,,but I had to, at the time, to be prepared).. but if I find something like this, I will get it, otherwise, a heavier jacket won't hurt, I know I will probably get cold much easier than everyone else.

@BittersweetPotato Its hard for me to understand what you`re coming from temperature wise. I`ve never experienced that just like you`ve never experienced what we have. I can only help as much as possible and imagine what temps you live in. But like you mentioned, its best to get here and try to see what you`ll need. 🤗
Obvioulsy not from Ontario, but if it gets below 10°C , I'd say it's definitely safe to have some jacket. Maybe something light that can be rolled up?
BittersweetPotato · 31-35, F
@EarthlingWise Can you post a link for something like this? Just to get an idea of what sort of jacket you mean.. I really don't know much about this type of clothing

@EarthlingWise Cool, I get the idea..
Starcrossed · 41-45, F
You never know, the temp can swing wildly in the same day. You may only need a sweatshirt in the evening/morning.
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
Maybe a hoodie for early am. But probably not

I'm close to Ottawa on the US side and I say no. It's hot and humid AF around here in late July and into August.
BittersweetPotato · 31-35, F
@MethDozer Are you sure you are not just conspiring to have potato freeze? 🥔🥴
