Did anyone here read or see anything on you tube that may indicate why Robin Westman shot all those children in Minnesota?

Top | New | Old
I've seen a tiny bit of reporting about his "manifesto" mentioning his support of a gun rights advocate for president, but it didn't explain anything about his motives.

I'm not so sure that trying to understand the shooter is the right approach to reducing the killing of children. I think better gun control is more likely to reduce the killings.

It's very depressing that firearms have been the leading cause of death for US children and teens since 2020, representing 19% of all deaths for children 18 years and younger in 2021. School shootings get the most headlines, but I think the ready availability of guns is driving the numbers.

@EBSVC Because we as a society let that happen!

I have been deployed in several southwest Asian countries where guns simply were not allowed. It not surprising that there were virtually no human deaths or serious injuries going back decades from gun related violence…BUT here is the real point, there were virtually NO deaths or serious injuries going back decades from ANYTHING that could be used as a deadly weapon. Partly cultural, but a very large part of this is the immediacy of guns, the degree of lethality we allow those guns to have, the slack rules & regulations we place on their ownership, and the simple fact that there are just too damn many of them!

There needs to be responsible gun control regulations nationwide.
@ElwoodBlues I Think your analysis is spot on and your graphs really illustrate not only the scope of the problem, but a lot of the underlying issues and the need for national, rational gun control.

Assault weapons are not hunting weapons. Their purpose is to kill and cause grave bodily injury. Why would any sane American wish to further those goals upon our children?

We need a return to sane government; not the insanity of the corrupt tRUMP misadministration!

@TinyViolins i agree with your thoughts. however i think we need to know what causes this sort of behavior. just like people who burn Hitler's paintings or throw away Manson's lyrics. we missed out on studying these items to see if there is a pattern. something that could give us a heads up

@LILY61 Social isolation, easy access to guns, and radicalization seem to be the most pervasive factors in all of these mass shootings. Being a young male increases the likelihood.

There's no sound reasoning behind it. The warping of a person's morals and worldview happens in their heads or on anonymous websites. There's no way to know for sure someone is going to be a mass shooter in large part due to their social isolation.

This case doesn't seem to be exceptional in any way in the history of mass shootings. Nothing in the manifesto comes as a shock given what information we have about his videos
@TinyViolins His video, as of this morning, was still available on YouTube. It was absolutely chilling and inhumane.

THIS KID AND SO MANY OTHERS WHO HAVE DONE THESE CRIMES HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO RIGHT TO HAVE THEIR HANDS ON A LETHAL WEAPON! This is insane.

And all the Republican “thoughts and prayers” only serve to make a mockery out of the deaths of these children, their teachers, and other victims. And destroying the lives of their family members and friends.

Any politician that supports this should be in jail, not in public office starting with tRUMP and his criminal and incompetent misadministration!
He posted a homemade video before he committed this heinous crime on YouTube.

While it’s easy to blame the individual shooters let’s cut to the chase—tRUMP, the MAGAs, the gun nuts, and the NRA all clearly value their distorted and perverted interpretation of the 2nd Amendment over our children’s and grandchildren’s and every one else’s lives.

Common sense gun control laws would prevent and greatly mitigate these crimes. Instead, tRUMP, Republican politicians, and the NRA facilitate and empower these criminally mentally ill sickos.

Demand action! We are the only country which faces these all-to-common atrocious tragedies. There are already over 200 mass shootings in the United States this calendar year…

But these tragedies serve tRUMP well—they solidify his gun nut donations and votes and divert attention from the Epstein files!

@LILY61 oh yeah, pros need to study it - and maybe they could head it off. totally agree there.
For what it was worth, I just watched the White House (I.e. tRUMP’s) response to the Minneapolis school shooting.

Absolutely nothing of substance. No acceptance of his duty to lead on this national disgrace which (as @ElwoodBlues graphs clearly show) reached epidemic levels during his first misadministration.

Once yet again, he has no solutions. He only tries to divert blame from his own role and fails to lead.

On the Inside, he’s thrilled that this disgraceful tragedy diverts attention from the Epstein files.

Possibly had mental health issues. Was trans but conflicted about it. Radicalized by the media and death cults like antifa and trantifa.

@SumKindaMunster
Wow.

You’re falsely linking Westman's trans identity to violence based on a biased article full of unverified claims (which I have read).

There's no evidence of a "trantifa" or "death cults" radicalizing trans people and you know it. Westman's mental health struggles and conflicting feelings about identity are individual issues, not proof of a broader threat.

Blaming media and entire communities distracts from real concerns like mental health and gun access, but I know you like to claim that we’re all propagandised by the mass media.

As usual, you’re reflecting far-right rhetoric, not independent thinking.

@wishforthenight Andy Ngo is an excellent reporter, he brings receipts. Look up "trantifa" and the Zizian death cult on your own if you need more perspective.

If you read the article than you know he is getting this information directly from the shooter's social media. It's totally verified, but I noted your continual dismissal of anything that doesn't fit what you already believe.

You continually confront me, ask me to provide evidence of my claims, then dismiss them out of hand.

It's so strange to me that you keep doing this...showing up here with different profiles, picking ideological fights with me, then getting pissy and dismissing me and deleting your account.

Why do you continue to do that to yourself? Do you think it upsets me? I find it stimulating to defend my beliefs against indoctrinated idiots. What does it do for you?

@wishforthenight i care.! as i have stated...we need to learn from these situations....maybe there is a possibility of someone noticing their behavior before it gets to this...!!! people burned Hitler's paintings....people could have studied these to see if there is a pattern. People have banned and destroyed Manson's lyrics....same thing. There are a million examples of this....

ALL WE DO IS IGNORE WHAT HAPPENED AND WHY AND BURY OUR HEADS IN THE SAND!

@wishforthenight If your point is that Republican’s “thoughts and prayers” are insincere tokens of concern for the victims then I agree. They don’t give a ***censored*** about the victims in any of these mass shootings. They only hope to delay and delay until the initial holy anger at these senseless slaughters of innocent children drops off the current news feed and people go back to their baseline indifference.

If that’s your point.

If your apparent indifference as manifested by your remarks such as: “Who cares?” Is actual indifference then I vehemently disagree and emphatically state that you are part of this problem!
@KunsanVeteran it’s the former.

And the “who cares” is for asking why we need to evaluate the mental state of the (now deceased) killer, and also that if the killer was a non-White or an immigrant, people on here would be howling for his head.
@wishforthenight Then we are in agreement.
