Yes. They couldn’t handle the Russian winter.

Yes. Communism is indeed the opposite of fascism. The commies defeated the fascists while American people sold weapons food rations to Euro countries - keeping the war going as long as possible! Before seizing and taking over Europe, with the intent to destroy the Soviet Union using the remaining Nazi troops and weapons.
The Italian people literally erased the names of all the red army from their own history.

@hippyjoe1955 and if you look into who and what institutions funded the nazi party and communist movement.....there is an awful lot of overlapping.

Of course!
It shows:
1. how utterly incompetent the Soviets were earlier in the war by lack of preparedness and Stalin's purges against the officer corps
2. what they were able to do with the massive influx of first British and then U.S. aid
3. how little Stalin cared about casualties to Soviet troops later in the war in their drive to Berlin and to control Eastern Europe.

Socialist Germany fought socialist Russia and they killed each other like all good socialists do. The Germans, fighting a two front war, lost. Funny how as Germany collapsed all the Germans that could fled west to be captured by the western allies and not the Soviet troops.

@hippyjoe1955 Because they knew they would most likely die if taken prisoner by the russians! Only a small percentage of german POWs survived
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@fanuc2013 Yes the USSR was absolutely brutal toward their captured enemies. The west had a different idea. Sadly over the years the sides have begun to shift with the west being more brutal towards its enemies than Russia. Not completely but the shift is on.

Yes! The russians weakened the german army so much that the Allies knew they could be successful for the D-Day invasion.
