Who Remembers Riding in the Bed of a Pickup?….. Sweet Memories or NO?

One of the best parts about country living in the 1960s and 1970s was the freedom to ride in the back of a pickup truck. Parents allowed it, especially if they were driving down a back road with little traffic and no police officers. Although it was fun to ride on the wheel hump or to dangle your legs off the tailgate, most parents made their kids sit on the floor of the truck bed so they wouldn’t bounce out if the truck hit a pothole. We are sure this practice still goes on to some degree, but child seat belt laws passed in 1985 cut down on the number of pickup truck riders.

Similar thing here in England in the 60s and 70s.
Backs of trucks and Trailers. No seat belts in the cars and trucks. Lots of great memories of those days. Life was so much simpler. Its was a great time to be young .
That was the same of many things back then with everything. Early in my life i remember it was very rare we locked our doors in our house .
We had nothing to steal .we had very little but our lives were so much richer than today .
I am actually writing about those days at the moment. Great times back then..

That’s how we got to baseball games, sitting on our gloves in the back of the old Ford. The good ole days.

Yes! We did that as kids, and I don't recall hearing of anyone getting hurt, although it probably did happen

Did a lot as a kid. Most of the time it was fun but a few times I shouldn't of been in that situation lol

I learned to drive in a stolen pickup when I was 14. Does that count?

We cant forget Chickasaw County that is located West of Hazzard County and can be accessed by either Highway 3 or Highway 16. And don't try to Jason Steele and Sheriff Little to work together to trick me into crossing the county line. I'm on probation
the good ole days.
