The universal declaration of human rights includes travel as a universal right. The French used to say something like "beneath the pavement, the beach"- meaning we all need leisure. The socialists lost and the rich own the world. Sorry there's no way to go back and start socialism again! The murkans will nuke us all to prevent that!

@whowasthatmaskedman nah - that's just your Western mindset. No reason to allow it to come up for debate! It's dangerous and you don't mind that! But if it gets a review, the West is over.

@Roundandroundwego Americas version of the west certainly is over..😷

@whowasthatmaskedman there's a leftist and socialist West that tried to unite the region in Europe and had plans to build a bridge to Africa. That's over too, now, since the brutal conservative philosophy killed socialism and won the West.

Cost be damned. The sheer inconvenience of the airport these days makes it intolerable to fly. You spend more time in security and waiting at both ends than it takes to drive or take a train..Add the cost of a trip to and from the airport and I will just stay home if I canrt find another way.😷

@whowasthatmaskedman Domestic air travel is certainly a nightmare due to all that. I think the thrust (!) of the news report I read was more about international travel, esp for Australia as we can't drive to other countries. But in general the cost of aviation will go up organically anyway I feel since eventually oil runs out and production of fuel (inc kerosene) slows down or stops.

@zonavar68 I accept that.. And in the unlikely event I ever travel OS again it will be by ship. (My favourite method of travel anyway..)😷

Imagine how much it would be without being government subsidized

@MarineBob Most 'flag carrier' airlines would be considered 'too big to fail' also. Qantas got *massive* amounts of money from the then Liberal/Republican federal government in 'Jobkeeper' payments when almost everything was forced to shut down during Covid lockdown 1.0 and 2.0 in 2020/21 (Jobkeeper 'insured' businesses though, not individual's jobs) and none of that money ever got payed back.
