The family dog will notify you that the delivery driver has arrived

@Queendragonfly yes
pentacorn · F
it's unnecessary because of notifications. it makes me think it's an unscheduled visitor
perceptivei · 36-40, F
@pentacorn wonderful answer!

Maybe the baby is asleep? I’d prefer them to ring the doorbell, so I know the package has arrived.
Like leave on the doorstep?

I don’t open the door after dark (prior bad experiences)
My dogs will bark incessantly
I don’t want to hear the bell
I don’t want to be friendly at that moment with a strange man

Pushing buttons next to doors is so 2022

I suppose people prefer not to be disturbed. Maybe they have a sleeping baby, excitable pets, or work from home on zoom.
But really, I'd want to know when my package had arrived.

They have a habit of pounding on my door when they drop off a package which causes my dog to go into a barking frenzie. 😠
ninalanyon · 61-69, T
I not only dont want them to ring the doorbell I don't want anything delivered to my house at all unless it is normal post that fits in the postbox or something too big for one person to handle. I'm more than happy to go to the nearest pick up point (about a mile away) at a time that I choose rather than have some ignorant bastard pretend that they handed me the goods when in fact all they did was dump it on my doorstep when I wasn't in.

I have no problem with them ringing the doorbell. That way I know it's there and I can come get it. 🙂
perceptivei · 36-40, F
@Musicman Yeah. I'm asking about people who do not want drivers ringing the bell. We were debating about possible reasons.
Musicman · 61-69, M
@perceptivei Not wanting to wake up young kids sleeping. 🤷♂️
perceptivei · 36-40, F
@Musicman Yeah, that's one I used to hear pretty often.
Spoiledbrat · F
We don't have a doorbell. They knock when they leave it and I'm grateful. They don't wait for me to open the door or anything but that's fine with me.
ChadJNSD · 31-35, M
To keep the delivery driver from burglarizing your home. Duh!
perceptivei · 36-40, F
@ChadJNSD The point is the homeowners don't want the noise for some reason. We were thinking of good reasons.
ChadJNSD · 31-35, M
@perceptivei Can’t trust those people. Have to keep your guns loaded. 🤣
perceptivei · 36-40, F
@ChadJNSD I think you missed the point of my question. I mean this for UPS, Amazon and Fedex deliveries as well.
NoGamesTolerated · F
I like them ringing the door bell so I know my package is out there. 😃 But I look and confirm who it is first.
perceptivei · 36-40, F
@NoGamesTolerated Yeah. Some people don't mind a knock or ringing of the doorbell. He delivers for Doordash and Grubhub. Apparently, he had a negative experience, because he was asking me "Why don't people want drivers ringing their doorbell???!!! Tell me now!!!!"
So, I listed off some possible reasons. It only made him more angry. So, I wanted to see what others thought.
I can understand it, because I used to work for UPS. Many people had signs on their doors not to knock or ring the bell.

I don't have dog or baby. So yes I prefer them to ring the bell.
perceptivei · 36-40, F
@littlepuppywantanewlife Right, but I'm asking why those who don't like it, even get angry if they do knock or ring the bell, why?
littlepuppywantanewlife · 31-35, M
@perceptivei some people think that they should not be disturbed since they have family and private things going on in their life. I didn't knew about this before. I read it now. Because here it's common to ring a bell.
Wizardry · 46-50, M
Don’t mind if the delivery driver knocks on my door

I hate when they bang on the window , we also have a doorbell which is audible outside btw, they tend to "ring ring ring" the bell, then "bash, bash bash" the window, I've said it to a few of them, I'm not sure why they do it, it's horrible
