My friend told me to stop going to the dealership to get my oil changed

@itsok Check your owners manual or online owners manual to see what is documented there for the maintenance based on mileage on your vehicle. although your car has reached the mileage, all suggested repairs may not be necessary.

Have the service advisor explain what they will do to complete the maintenance you have asked for. push back if you don't understand.

get a friend to go over your car with you and show/explain the things you don't understand.

@sstronaut maybe it’s a wonky place then. The guy said some people try to drive into the pit instead of over it. I didn’t like it at all. Also, it’s 90 degrees degrees with high humidity and im in a car that’s turned off for nearly an hour

@itsok Yeah, that doesn't sound like an updated place. I'm used to employees demanding to drive it into place, and demanding customers get out of sight of the car while they work on it, and always giving you an air conditioned place to sit and wait, usually with a TV and coffee or vending machines.

Some places might have a thick glass where you can watch them work from a far.

@itsok yeah it's pretty easy to do, just have to properly dispose of the oil

@itsok I’ve gotten very far by ignoring weird sounds that my car is making until either the noise stops or the car does

@JRVanguard I feel like that’s what I do with a lot of problems in my life 😵 who knows how many illnesses I’ve avoided just by ignoring symptoms

@itsok yes. I would pick a shop like Mavis if you have them in your area or a shop like that. Better yet, find you a man to change it free. 🤣
