I remember gas price wars in the early 70's. Stations were competing with prices fluctuating in the mid $.30's. Then.... OPEC oil embargo in 1973 and prices shot up to the unreal mid $.50's. Tough times....
PatKirby · M
I remember 37/38¢ around 1970.

I filled up on $2.39 last nite which is still pretty low considering.

@PatKirby

I remember 37/38¢ around 1970.

It stayed there through the 50's, 60's and into the 70's

@Thrust

My roughneck uncle back then worked in the oil fields out in the sticks. Missing parts of two fingers but brought home the bacon for the family. Tough ole' dude I admire that.

Before groceries were hit by furlough tax, about 40p for a tin of baked beans.
4meAndyou · F
@BlobbyMcBlobface I don't think that's the kind of gas he meant...🤣🤣🤣
BlobbyMcBlobface · 100+, M
@4meAndyou Oops! Silly me! 🤣
exexec · 70-79, C
35 cents a gallon when I started driving. I would get 50 cents worth of gas for each date.
TurtlePink · 22-25, F
I’ve never paid attention but I remember when gas was like $2.50
scorpiolovedeep · 51-55, M
2cents in Middle East per litre in the 80s.
1983 to be exact.

Now give me the best comment.

MasterLee · 56-60, M

FoxyGoddess · 51-55, F
$.10 a gallon, though within about 6 months, it became $.25 a gallon.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@FoxyGoddess Wow. What year was that?
FoxyGoddess · 51-55, F
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@FoxyGoddess I wasn't driving then, so I wouldn't know. I was 12.
Alyosha · 36-40, M
About a dollar.
Anniedlr · 31-35, F
Do you mean gas or petrol 😂😂
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@Anniedlr Hi there. Welcome to the United States of America. We call it gasoline here.
Anniedlr · 31-35, F
@LordShadowfire Yes I know - just teasing 😂
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@Anniedlr I was as well. I realize there are well over a dozen people living outside of the United States at any given time. 😆
Thinkerbell · 41-45, F
About $1.00 per gallon, not adjusted for inflation, around the year 2000.
RedBaron · M
Maybe 29 cents a gallon in the 1960s.
exexec · 70-79, C
@RedBaron I forgot about the 29 cent gas when there was a "gas war" between competing gas stations.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
89 cents. It was probably cheaper than that and I just didn't pay attention until I started driving.
YoMomma ·
1.90 maybe in the 90’s
Maybe something like €1,70/L
Diotrephes · 70-79, M
32 cents a gallon.
36 cents a gallon.
4meAndyou · F
$1.89 a gallon. April 9, 2020!!!
Thrust · 56-60, M
@4meAndyou

That’s when oil had a negative value because not enough was used during Covid and it was stuck on ships.

Remember that was when AOC, the brilliant economics scholar, said it was the perfect time to start never using it again. Because it was so cheap.
🤡 🤡🤡🤡
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
