Ahhh...The Difference Four Years Can Make

Same gas station.
Trump gas prices on the left, Biden gas prices on the right.

WillaKissing · 56-60
Hey author you should have had Biden gas on the left and Trump gas on the right, just saying is all.
@Musicman ahhh...so the photo should have been arranged differently. Ok
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
@BizSuitStacy I think what he’s getting at is JoeB is a lefty . Put his stuff on the left .
Orange is right wing. Put his stuff on the right.
@AthrillatheHunt yes, I got that after Musicman's comment. Thanks.
carpediem · 61-69, M
The good old days.... hopefully back for another run soon
KingofBones1 · 46-50, M
Exactly and they spread the rumor that the economy is great great for who? Stores and merchants perhaps but sure not for wages as they have not kept up with the rising inflation
carpediem · 61-69, M
@KingofBones1 I recall waiting in gas lines for 45 minutes or longer. Mortgage rates in excess of 16% at the end of his presidency. You just did not feel good being an American under Carter. Today it's eerily similar to those days.
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
@carpediem remember only being able to buy gas on an even or odd day , depending on the digits on your license plate ?
My parents had a 13% mortgage at the time. That’s freakin double what it is now . And 4 x my rate of 3.125%
carpediem · 61-69, M
@AthrillatheHunt Yes, I recall. It was crazy. Some of that was attributable to the silly idea of price controls.

My first mortgage was 9.75%. I was lucky. I know others who bought at 12% plus. Crazy. But we're just shy of 8% today. I have no clue how young people can afford to buy a home.
Confined · 56-60, M
4.00 a gallon is killing me.
@Confined it's 5/gal where I live. Even worse in CA.
MarineBob · 56-60, M
But oil executives are making record pay
@MarineBob yes...they suddenly got greedy after Biden was installed.
PatKirby · M
Living a block from a Murphy Express I've seen their prices close to the very lowest in town, consistently. This is now at science fiction level - and still the lowest in town.
This is a moot point. Pete Buttegeig has weighed on on the charging station matter for EVs, ergo fossil fueled vehicles will be a thing of the past…in the meantime being we’re in summer, our oil reserves have again been gone into, so as the administration wants to show is to reduce gas prices for the summer. Yes we might see lowered prices at the ( dare I say it!) the “GAS PUMP”. But what will we see as the summer ebbs, fall and winter come on?
@soar2newhighs Pete Buttplug has a problem he can't explain...they've only built 7 or 8 EV stations at the cost of $7.5 billion (in 2021 dollars). They want to build 500,000 of them. That cost will dwarf the current national debt. Not to mention, the country can't generate enough electricity to supply them.
@BizSuitStacy
this hits the nail on the head Re: Pete.
Keeper · M
And our reserves are drained.
@Keeper lowest in 40 years
Julien · 36-40, M
Wait ? Do you really think politicians can control the price of things ??? That only happens in communist countries 😆
@Julien but the US isn't a commu...

Oh wait...
nudistsueaz · 61-69, F
@Julien It depends on who they are accepting money from.
AcDcSWM · 51-55, M
Pretty sure the trump price was in your fantasy.
Oil executives set gas prices, not presidents!
Oil executives are republicans, so republicans are responsible for the high prices.
Also, look at a cart with crude oil - gas price comparable to today.
What you’ll find is about $1.30 of current price is pure price gouging the public for political theater.
Plus they vote to reduce care for military vets.
Just the facts.
PatKirby · M
@PatKirby gotta steal that one 🤣
PatKirby · M
@BizSuitStacy

Enjoy. Spread it far and wide!
SW-User
Well, get ready for another four years! You think Trump’s still going to be running, let alone winning? 😂😂 He’s 34-0 down! 😂😂
therighttothink50 · 56-60, M
@BizSuitStacy can you explain only 17 views?
@SW-User No, we’re telling people like you. This might well do more harm to Biden than he realizes, that’s if he’s cognizant.
@therighttothink50 when I say he's been around a bit longer than that, I mean like a month. This isn't the first time we've exchanged pleasantries. That said, perhaps he deleted his account and started over using the same profile name. Or, maybe the 17 views are an indication no one is interested in his profile. The writing style and language is reminiscent of other lefties on here. Perhaps an alt account.
black4white · 56-60, M
Take the prices of the lowest of a certain 4 year span and compare to the mid highs of another 4 year term and yesssss you can make it what you want

Prices where I am never got to $1.85 in the past 10 years sooooo lies I tell ya
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
@BizSuitStacy the Russians and gulf OPEC nations saw the writing on the wall (about to be no more global trade ) in December 2019 and started massively trading oil futures . They messed w the market and profited big time .
I wish I new that in 2019 too.
@AthrillatheHunt Washington State gas prices really high and tweaks the average as well.
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
I remember 1.99 a gallon here on Long Island. It’s now 3.59.
HumanEarth · 56-60, F
I hate that we are eve of destruction
Lilymoon · F
It's the same with Trudeau 😑
nudistsueaz · 61-69, F
Sad isn't it?
braveheart21 · 61-69, M
Enjoy you cheap gas.... It's easily DOUBLE that price here in the UK per gallon..
braveheart21 · 61-69, M
@nudistsueaz because one day you could be paying as much as we do.... So enjoy the low price while you can
@braveheart21 is it really double? 🤔

A quick internet search indicates you're paying roughly £1.49 GBP per litre, for 95 octane in the UK. That's about $7.20 USD per gallon. Prices vary throughout the US. I pay about $5.00 USD per gallon - but that's for 87 octane. In California, it's $7 per gallon in parts of LA.

I get it, though. You guys have been dealing with high priced petrol for a long time.
braveheart21 · 61-69, M
@BizSuitStacy as I travel around the country as a trucker the average price I see it around £1.52 per litre... At a rough working out that equates to £8.65 per UK imperial gallon... Slightly less for the US gallon...
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
Yes, because pandemic and war has no relevance here at all..
