SW-User

MarineBob · 61-69, M
I knew a girl in school who could ride one
Highskirt · 56-60, M
@MarineBob ive seen a girl do that 🔥
exexec · 70-79, C
All of my family can drive them. It was a requirement before I let my kids get a license. Even my grandchildren are learning, too.
WillaKissing · 61-69, M
Yes! I love shift vehicles!
Cigarguys · 41-45, C
@WillaKissing yes they are a lot of fun to drive
SW-User
It's been awhile, but yes.
Yep 👍 I learned on a stick shift. It was on the floor like that.
learn when you're a kid you never forget,
thisguy20 · 46-50, M
Yes.

I can also drive a three-on-the-tree...
Vin53 · M
Once you learn to, it never leaves you.
Sure, as long as it's a transmission with synchro rings (AKA synchromesh). They became common for all gears in the 1960s; prior to that only some gears were synchronized, and I don't know if I've ever driven one of those.
supersnipe · 61-69, M
@ElwoodBlues There were millions of cars on the road in the UK when I was growing up with no synchromesh on first gear (from Minis to Jags!) You didn't notice that much unless you had to select first gear on the move, which was comparatively rare. I had fun practising on my 1956 Standard!
@supersnipe I remember double declutching on an ancient Rover…
Virgo79 · 61-69, M
I do every day, only a 4 speed not a 5
Highskirt · 56-60, M
Yep and i still have one
Cigarguys · 41-45, C
@Highskirt mine has over 180,000 miles on it
LeotardWearer · 61-69, M
Yes, every day :-)
Poppies · 61-69, F
My husband can
MasterLee · 56-60, M
Thrust · 56-60, M
Oh hell yeah!
4meAndyou · F
I learned to drive on a car with a manual transmission...but the shift was on the wheel, not on the floor. I did have a boyfriend once who allowed me to drive his 65 Mustang with 4 on the floor, but I ground the gears rather badly...🤣🤣🤣
GoFish · 41-45, F
Lots of people still.. i used to a lil but it’s been a long while
Cigarguys · 41-45, C
@GoFish no one at my work can but I am the oldest person there
GoFish · 41-45, F
@Cigarguys oh my hub can but he was a trucker but my dad and sister also.. my car is automatic tho 🙂
Thrust · 56-60, M
I know a gal who loves playing Thundershift 500! 🤤

Jenny1234 · 56-60, F
heavyone2 · 61-69, M
If I could find a new one for a reasonable price, I'd buy another one! They last and last and I like that fact that I can "mix the revs"...lol.
supersnipe · 61-69, M
Most people can here (UK), especially the older drivers. Automatics were a semi-luxury until comparatively recently.
I would recognize that MILLENNIAL ANTI-THEFT DEVICE anywhere....
basilfawlty89 · 36-40, M
Most people in South Africa, yeah.
Manual is standard, automatic is rarer, even for new cars.
heavyone2 · 61-69, M
Yep. I still can.
NinaTina · 31-35, F
Yes it's easy look
