When a vehicle needs repairs because of a wreck, what does the insurance company do after a claim?

Someone hit my dad and it was determined it wasn't either drivers fault. He's been trying to see through our family insurance if some of the damages can be covered. Someone just left a message on his voicemail and said "We're coming to get your car" what do they mean?

It must be someone’s fault. As long as he has been as River 0% responsibility his insurance rates should not increase and that is an important factor to have verified before accepting the insurance companies evaluation.

The car may not be worth repairing in which case the insurance company writes it off meaning they give you the blue book value of the vehicle and as condition of accepting that money you surrender the vehicle and it’s keys. If you disagree that the car was worth more than they offer you have to offer proof of that from adds or other proven sales.
could mean the damage is more than the value of the car and they totaled it and will pay blue book value for the car. check wih your dad for any communication he had with his insurance company

He said after all these calls, he's only talked to one person who saw the pictures of the damage and told him it looks repairable. She said he would call him back but never did. So lets say they want to come haul it off. Would he get enough money from insurance to be able to buy another vehicle? I'm not sure if he had liability or full coverage
@swandfriends probably not, go sit with him and have him call the insurance company before giving anyone permission to haul it away

Talk with insurance company. May be someone scamming and taking away his car.
