Screaming C5 taking off.

We used to live near the runway by the plant where C-5s were assembled in Marietta, GA. Their unique sound when taking off woke us up many mornings. In fact, I went out and took a photo of the maiden flight of the first C-5.

I used to watch them take off in Frankfurt, it never looked real. I half wondered if they didn't fill it with helium first to make it float like that! I also saw the one that crashed in Delaware a couple times before they could get it out of that farm field. What a mess..

Get to see them occasionally. Mostly C17s. Live pretty close to Joint Base Lewis Mccord.
