Knock or click noise inside steering wheel??

I bought a used car in February. I've noticed in the last two weeks, about once per week, a knocking sound inside the steering wheel. Almost like a bolt sound clicking. It must've been after a turn, as I don't recall it just being straight and doing that. I checked power steering fluid and it's ok. Its only been twice in two weeks, so is it something to be concerned about like in the very near future, or just gauge it if it continues?

Go to a mechanic, tell him to plug a fault finder into the car ,or you could message our mechanic lilnonames and ask her advice.

A constant clicking sound when turning the steering wheel coukd be the clockspring...the wired thing connecting power to the steering wheel. Or if it a light knocking sound felt while driving over very small bumps in the road, could be the steering intermediate shaft.
If it's when you're turning, maybe it's something with the clock spring?
Or maybe the air bag was deployed and replaced with junk?

Is it in the steering wheel or in the CV joint that makes a clicking sound when the wheel is turned? The CV shouldn't click so that is a good indication that it will fail soon and if it does it will leave you stranded.

@hippyjoe1955 it sounded like it was in the steering wheel like in the center behind horn icon
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@Coralmist OK. If it is just one click as you turn the wheel and not a clicking as the wheel remains turned then it is in the steering column and not something you need to worry about.

This could be a sign of something dangerous. I suggest you take it to a mechanic as soon as possible.

@DunningKruger but it might be ok to drive local the next couple days?
DunningKruger · 61-69, M
@Coralmist I suggest you drive cautiously. It may be nothing, but it could be something. Better safe than sorry.

@DunningKruger Thank you. 🌺ll try to get it looked at next week..

It's probably a plastic clip for horn or airbag, have someone who knows what they doing and pull off horn/airbag on stearing wheel, but disconnect battery be fore they do
Lilnonames · F
@Lilnonames or ste stearing knuckle on the stearing column
