How is public transportation where you are?

So in the Chicago area, we have three different transit systems. The city of Chicago is served by the CTA, and the suburbs are served by Pace and Metra. The latter two have their issues but they are far better than the CTA. The main problems with the suburban systems is a lack of service or no service in some areas, and some of Metra's lines have a tendency to be delayed due to the lines actually being owned by freight railroads, whose trains have the obvious right of way over Metra.

The CTA shares the two above issues with our suburban systems, plus one really big problem...crime. Crime at the CTA train stations has greatly increased over the past few years to ridiculous levels. Sadly, It's almost become a risk to take the train in the city of Chicago. The CTA bus is a little better at this point, but not by much.

Only a bus system, and it's pretty infrequent. It has good reach though.

I'm in Chicago but I'm totally ignorant of the public transit. I've only been on the bus like twice
SubstantialKick · 31-35, M
@deadgerbil It's not that good lol.
@deadgerbil Why did I think you were in the UK ? 🤔

The TransitLink bus service net work in Singapore

The Mass Rapid Transit train service

I think there's like 90% coverage except the rain forest in the middle of the island.

Some of the larger areas in the West and North have a Light Rail System to bring commuters to the main train network and hubs

Hardly any serious crime on these except for occasional outrage of modesty cases.

The train system is pretty good

Meanwhile I think I’ve seen maybe 50 buses before in my entire life I’ve lived here
Like I see bus stops a lot and even drive my the main bus hub of the county on my way to work
But…🤷‍♀️

@JRVanguard I currently live in a large suburb with several bus routes, but non of them run through my part of town. How do you like that, lol.
JRVanguard · 26-30, M
@SubstantialKick I very much live in a place that’s very “Own a car, take the train to the city or go f yourself”
exexec · 61-69, C
My city of 110,000 has none.
Foreverconfused · 56-60, F
So bad I don’t think we have it

Public transportation boats, public buses in the mainland (one every 30m circa, one every 20m for within the same city routes), railways, airport at circa 1h from my location.. I can't complain
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
Except for buses to NYC, pretty much non-existent.
SubstantialKick · 31-35, M
@ChipmunkErnie New Jersey, I'm guessing?
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
@SubstantialKick Yup, Buses to NYC and Philly, but the nearest train is half an hour away. Used to have commuter train service when I was a kid, now most of the train lines have been paved over and turned into bike paths.

It's good where I am - 12 miles from the centre of Australia/s biggest city.Of course, people still complain, but I guess that pretty much happens everywhere.
BART, Muni and AC transit were top-notch as public transportation goes, and now they’re mostly back the way they were before the pandemic.
