No, I am not better off, being retired and even with a 3% cost of living increase once a year to my retirement it has not kept up with Bidens 4.5% yearly inflation! I live on my farm in rural Ohio and inflation coupled with the wild out of control real estate prices has seen land values triple and the land taxes to rise yearly by $300 dollars or more just because of projected land values. It is getting stupidly crazy even in rural America. It is as if the elite are pushing prices higher and higher for everything including vehicles, homes, property, groceries Fuel, clothing everything to a point where aver to poor Americans stand to lose everything. As if they want to force you into a low-income type of apartment that has the same stupidly inflammatory rental costs as buying a home.

I live in an area with a lot of Amish, and they do mostly construction jobs, and I am friends with a few of the Amish families. I learned two days ago that the building a repair industry the Amish do has slowed to nearly a standstill and folks that can afford to build or repair are not doing so deciding to sit back and wait to see if things will keep getting out of control cost wise. The Amish lumber mills, loggers, and furniture and cabinetmakers are slowed greatly in production and demand as well.

These are my personal examples of why I am worse off after these past 3.5 O'Biden years.
WillaKissing56-60
@Musicman Absolutely it is O'Bidens fault!

@Aidankenny23 I am so sorry you drank the blue Kool aid. See your doctor there is help for you.

@Musicman Best Answer in my book!

About the same. My job is well paid, and my wife gets enough too for us to be comfortable. We switch up brands, cut costs etc where we can in our regular shop. We aren't big 'luxury' spenders.
Zonuss41-45, M
@Emele Great to hear.

A year ago? Only if your pay kept up with inflation, and for the vast majority of people, that's a no. An even better question is whether you are better off today than you were 4 years ago. That's a no for anyone who isn't a politician, part of the military industrial complex, an exec at the central banks or an illegal alien.
BizSuitStacyM
@Zonuss that doesn't explain anything
Zonuss41-45, M
@BizSuitStacy It explains everything. It means you have no clue about what is really going on in our world. Zero. 鈽猴笍

I have the luxury of being outside the US and as such I am doing well, thank you very much...However I do have one relevent comment for Americans. You cant know how well your economy is actually doing from observing from inside America alone, simply because what you can see has been distorted by Trillions of dollars of borrowings from overseas to keep people in work and dividends and profits flowing inside America..Without that; if the nation and its people had to live within their means the whole nation would be a dumpster fire, with massive unemployment and poverty leaking upward as sales plumetted and profits and dividends, failed, crashing the stock market..馃樂

Financially I am ahead, but I do extra work rather than cut into my savings.
Zonuss41-45, M
@meggie Yes. Definitely stay with the side hustle. Save money. And use it wisely. 馃槍

No! Most people are feeling your delusional impact of real, wealth robbing inflation!

absolutely not better. the average family is spending ~$750 more per month than they were a few short years ago. my pay raise is generally around 3% per year and inflation is more than twice that.
calicuz51-55, M
Actually yes, I am better off. The economy was bad a year ago, but as a family we have adjusted.
Zonuss41-45, M
@calicuz Do you think the economy is better in 2024 ? 馃
calicuz51-55, M
@Zonuss

Yes, I believe it is better and continuing to get even better.
fanuc201351-55, F
Actually I am, but that's because I cut back on expenses, and my investments have done pretty well. Not because of any policies of the current administration
OliRos18-21, F
Yes, I am much better off since I turned 21 towards the end of last year.
Zonuss41-45, M
@OliRos Good.
OliRos18-21, F
@Zonuss Thank you.

I am better off financially than I was a year ago....not incredibly better, but I do have a bit more money than I did a year ago.
Actually I had an improvement but still have to play things carefully
AceOfSpades36-40, M
