I enjoyed it. I loved the choirs and understand it also fills in gaps while other transitions go on but sometimes that felt a little long. Amazing to think about how many worldwide tuned it.
@samueltyler2 All monarchy is mixed. They all married each other off to other Royals. In my mind the percentage of English blood makes no nevermind. Its the bloodline.
@REMsleep to each their own. I am not from UK, so don't have a feel for what it might mean. Quoting a spokesman from Australia, "Monarchy is all about entrenched privilege, about rule by kings and queens over and above the Australian people."
I turned the tv on for 20 minutes then thought right that鈥檚 enough. Lots of people were doing events and street parties today but we were let down with the weather.
@samueltyler2 I tried to watch the part where he was crowned but I had rather a lot to do today. These things drag on for hours but I did watch a bit of it. I鈥檓 sure I鈥檒l see that part on the news when I鈥檓 in bed tonight. 馃槉
Well given that (other than it being in English (and some Welsh and Gaelic), and music being from across about 9 centuries, plus a few minor revisions that have crept in over 100s of years), it's more or less the same thing that has been done in that [u]exact[/u] spot since 1066, and using (again, with a bit of evolution over time) the same service since about 871 (and probably earlier)...yeah some of it looks odd.
But ignore all the frippery and (even if one can) ignore Parry's and Handel's coronation anthems, and it's bloody brilliant.
I don't even know when it happened. For some reason I thought that it was happening today? Guess I missed it. No big loss I just wanted to glance at it and see how the ceremony looked real time.
