If a man says hello to a woman...is this sexual harassment ? 📚

Well if you are the hard core Liberal indoctrinated, modern , feminist, then it probably would be. Last week we were assigned to unload a commercial long distance truck at a university. Before we began our duty we were told not to say hello or engage with any women on the site. There were about 20 male workers in all. Half were Black the other half White. We started our job and the day went good. Note while we were working women in the apartments there were saying hello 👋 to us the entire time. They were saying things to us. They were smiling. They were naking comments. They were also a few women workers there who seemed to be very comfortable there fixing up the building for remodeling. They were with a different company. And at the end of the day a couple of women called us to their cars as we were leaving. Two Caucasian girl's...the guys they called were some Black dudes. My fellow coworkers. They asked them for directions to the swimming pool around the corner of the building. They were new and we're about to start school there soon. The they asked us if we wanted to join them later on. Hmmmmmm. See where this is going right. So what do you make of all of this. The site manager said a week earlier a few girls there told on them and said the guys were harassing them. Hmmmmmm. Comments. What do you think about this whole situation and the whole me too movement energy out there today. Best answer wins. 🤔

I consider myself a liberal, indoctrinated, feminist woman and I think that society is entirely too hard on men. Smiling, saying hello, engaging in small talk and even holding a door open is just normal, polite, human behavior. Don't get me wrong, sexual harassment is a very serious issue, but all men should not be made to pay the price for the few that cannot control themselves.
FenixGears · 41-45, M
I'm actually surprised by your answer. Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful, just surprised.
Zonuss · 41-45, M
@FenixGears Surprised for what. 🙂
FenixGears · 41-45, M
She is a feminist. Naturally, she could be the non-extremist type.

If he's rubbing his dick and drooling it might be. 🤭
Zonuss · 41-45, M
@FreeSpirit1 Says who. 🙂
Jinxie · 51-55, F
Your manager provided direction to protect you and your peers and to mitigate risk for their company. This is typical from what I’ve experienced.

I’m a hard core liberal feminist and I don’t think men that say hi to me denotes sexual harassment. The additional rhetoric, innuendos, flirting in a professional setting could be perceived as harassment. When in doubt, err on the side of caution, regardless of the sex of the people involved.

Unclear on what race has to do with this scenario.

I support me too, it was long over due.
Jinxie · 51-55, F
@Zonuss I’m unclear on how race plays into the scenario you described, I am aware of how some have a bias and racially profile.
Zonuss · 41-45, M
@Jinxie Because it always does. If you were Black you would understand. 😊
Jinxie · 51-55, F
@Zonuss You’re correct, I am not. Apologies if I offended you or others, not my intent.
th3r0n · 41-45, M
I kinda feel like the twisted people that call that sexual harassment should be executed
Zonuss · 41-45, M
@AbbySvenz Wow. 🤔
th3r0n · 41-45, M
@AbbySvenz no honestly, the people that harass others with the law and with authority when they did nothing wrong are basically bearing false witness against them

They’re literally breaking one of the Ten Commandments and they’re ruining the world for everyone else

I would go so far as to say the world would be better with every last person like that dead

Why can't you engage in common courtesy?
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@Zonuss Like talking to women is work place sexual harassment?
Zonuss · 41-45, M
@JimboSaturn You tell me.
Jamesy · 41-45, M
@JimboSaturn @JimboSaturn be wary of the executioners

Of course saying hello to a woman is not harassment. But if girls were harassed the previous week I can understand why the site manager or whoever it is told you not to speak to them at all. Sounds like he is thinking, if they are not speaking at all, then they are definitely not harassing.

Maybe the girls who were friendly, even flirtatious when you were there were not the same ones who felt harassed the previous week. I didn't see what happened the previous week, sounds like you didn't either. Maybe there was harassment. Maybe there wasn't.
Zonuss · 41-45, M
@Poppies The manager said there was no harassment. But he said some made a complaint about it just because the guys were only saying hi.
It sounds like your site manager doesn't want any problems and is trying to stop things before they start since there has already been complaints. I would just politely tell the girls you can't socialize while on the job.

I would think if they're going to tell you guys that then they should also inform the staff and students to let you do your job without interference.

I don't think anything of a hello. It's not harassment unless you've asked them to stop and they keep bothering you.
Zonuss · 41-45, M
@midnightrose Thanks for your response.
butterflybaby75 · 46-50, F
Depends how the guy is saying 'hello'. if it's obviously a sexual play, it's harassment especially if the woman says no and the guy doesn't stop (because that's what 'informed consent' is all about).
FenixGears · 41-45, M
In Colombia, you can whistle at a woman without having some cops knee on your back. Women take it as a compliment and any refusal of the word "no" is taken by the woman as persistence. America and other western countries need some act right.
Zonuss · 41-45, M
@FenixGears The new world orders politics have ruined traditional culture in our part of the globe.
I think it's super weird that you're bolding all the skin colours...
@Zonuss

Why did you feel like it?🙂
Zonuss · 41-45, M
@Pikachu Because I did.
@Zonuss

lol ok.
Ontheroad · M
Depends upon how he says hello. I've ran into, been around, worked with and worked for some strong, liberal women over the years and some that considered themselves feminists. I've started conversations, flited with a couple and in general been friendly to/with many of them and never once did I have a problem. It's all about respect - respect them as you should respect everyone and you won't have a problem. Sure, you might run into one who is having a bad day/moment and and have a finger pointed at you for sexual harassment, but that would be a real rarity. Just be a gentleman and show some respect.
MrGomco · 36-40, M
It's been two years since I've spoken to any woman in person (except relatives and some people I already knew in advance) or interacted with any (except at work when it's strictly necessary) and I'm doing well, I don't want to be accused of harassment just for say hello, that's why I don't even do that anymore, not even in the supermarket, I live in a city where all that modern ideology has skyrocketed, but I'll be moving soon.
Zonuss · 41-45, M
@MrGomco It's not nearly that bad. It's all about who you approach and how.
MrGomco · 36-40, M
@Zonuss I don't talk to women, simple as that
@MrGomco men say hi to me (or an equivalent of nodding their head) when they see me in stores or taking a walk in the city park, and not only do I not see that as sexual harassment, I actually think how polite they are. I like being said hello to. Now if they were following me and continued talking to me, I would be creeped out and a bit scared, but they don't do that. It's a small city, and they simply say hi -- whether alone or with friends/family -- and they continue walking. I also have women and kids saying hi to me. What has the world come to, if we can't even say hello anymore!!??

p.s. A simple hello with a body language and a facial expression that says "I am only being cordial'' is totally different than a hello with a body language and facial expressions that says "I'm a creep. Answer me, and I will think it is a green light to assault you''..... I have had those types of hellos before, and their "hello" literally sent shivers down my spine. I kept on walking -- even quicker-- and did not reply them.
Jeffrey53 · 51-55, M
I keep my mouth shut at work until they say hi first. Don’t know what’s right or wrong anymore.
Zonuss · 41-45, M
@Jeffrey53 🙂
wow i can hear the hate in your post. that's just girls being girls idk what anything else has to do with it, you are the adult who is supposed to have the respect and the power and contain yourself. simply put, if you are at work, you do the job and go home. why are you worried about the girls at all?
Zonuss · 41-45, M
@lovelywarpedlemon You are unable to see a man having a rational point of view. 🙂
@Zonuss i knew this was clickbait but i thought i'd share my opinion anyway. why would you consider anything but the utmost professionalism while doing an assigned task for your employer?
Zonuss · 41-45, M
@lovelywarpedlemon You didn't have to answer to begin with. I don't like dramatic people who come on my posts expecting me to act like Mr Rogers when you know how I roll. Anyway I respect your answer here. But don't throw bricks at me if you don't want them thrown back. 🙂
FenixGears · 41-45, M
Judging from the way things in the west are today, yes. You don't really get that in eastern Europe, South America or Southeast Asia. Hell, you don't even get that in Puerto Rico. And that's part of the U.S.
FenixGears · 41-45, M
Our culture and politics are wrong. That is a far cry from being different. They are both part of the reason why the U.S. is in perpetual decline. I say, let it fall. Maybe if we're lucky, we can have a great reset.
Zonuss · 41-45, M
@FenixGears And what would trigger or start that Great Reset.
FenixGears · 41-45, M
The decline of our country. If America falls, this world is fucked.
