Do u live in a White, Black, Latina, or mixed neighborhood ? 🌍
Hi. How are you today. I wanna know how many of you here live in a neighborhood or building where everyone looks just like you. Or do you live in a place that is diverse or mixed. I live in a mostly Black neighborhood with some Whites mixed in. And some Hispanics . What about you. Do you have good relationships with the people who live around you. I wanna know. Best answer wins. 🙂
Mostly white in this particular neighborhood, although the city itself is at least more diverse than surrounding communities. Certainly much more than where I grew up! In this neighborhood there have been a couple of hispanic families, a black single mother, and an interracial couple over the years, and I knew them best because they all had children my girls played with. Otherwise I only know a couple long-term residents by name, and most keep to themselves. All the kids are grown up now and the neighborhood has gone quiet.
My neighborhoof is pretty mixed. While there are still a few snobs, most are friendly and respective of each other. It's one of the reasons I stay. If it were anything else, if have left a long time ago. I've been here almost 40 years.
Lived in a very integrated neighborhood for nearly 40 years. We felt very well protected with both a Black Panther and a white Cop on our block, and we had Latinos, and European immigrants on the block as well, including a Holocaust survivor and an Armenian who escaped the pogroms there.
Then we had to move to get to flat land and a single story house because my wife's hip and knees were giving out, and wound up in a different kind of mix. What had once been nearly 100% Azorean (including my great-grandparents) was now predominantly a sub-Continent melting pot of Aghans and deshis from India and Pakistan, with a sprinkling of Latinos and remaining early settlers. While our "new" house was being renovated we lived in a huge 500 unit apartment complex where we and one other family appeared to be the only non-Hindis. One-day the doorbell rang and when my wife opened the door, the woman physically recoiled exclaiming "You're NOT Indian!" My wife mockingly recoiled as well and said "You're NOT Sicilian!" Then both had a good laugh.
@Zonuss My wife and her father, in particular, obviously had African Moorish blood in them. If you go to Sicily, the African influence on the eastern end of the island all the way up to Palermo is very obvious, compared to the Roman influence across the northern portion and the Greek influence on the southeastern end.
There is a Asian family, a black family and the rest white but they are all nice neighbors! One time there was a Mexican family down the street and like 14 people lived in the house and it was an eye sore to the neighborhood thankfully they moved out. I feel for who ever bought it though!
I grew up in a community with Croatians, Serbs, Mexicans, Puerto Ricans, Japanese, Greeks, Italians, Native American, and some Afro-Americans. Most were first to third generations in the U. S. Many still spoke their native language. My best friend spoke only Spanish at home and perfect English outside of it.
I was in the Army for 27 years and lived all around the world. I did choose to retire to a rural country farm where I could live privately enjoying the farm life and my cross-dressing lifestyle. There are a Lot of Amish around me that I have met when NOT cross dressed and learned about their community which is very narrow minded. The is one black man living up the road from me about 3 miles or so that is a strong single father raising his children on his own, a Cuban immigrant in the area that works for all the farmers as an honest hard-working laborer even in his 70's, and in town there are Asin families and Mexican families that stay closed off form others, So predominantly a Caucasian rural setting. I love it when I have my ethnic friends and their families over for visits. So, I see Americans and not ethnicities.
Being a Heterosexual cross dresser, I am very much a near 0%er for where I live as well. I dropped hates and prejudices in my life, but I will not accept any haters into my life.
the town i live in a university town so it's diverse during school months, but the majority is mostly white, tbh the only international supermarket is named ethnic supermarket so it gives it away
I live in a city and neighborhood that is about 60% people of color, with about 50 percent black. My neighbor to the right is Black, behind me is Hispanic and to the left a mixed White/Black family. As for the relationship aspect, here is one experience that should describe it. Shortly after I moved in I ended up in the hospital and then rehab for almost a month. I didn't really know any of my neighbors, but one morning after I got back from rehab, I heard the noise of a lawnmower outside of my bedroom window. still weak, I slowly went to the window to find my Black neighbor cutting my grass. He didn't know me from Adam, yet he knew I was struggling and just did what he felt he should. Didn't care one bit if I was white.
Most people in my suburb are white with a ton of successful African families mostly from Nigeria and other west African countries within the community. I have yet to see Hispanics or any other races/ethic groups tho. They live on the other side of the area if there is
Lived In a black neighborhood for 20 then it turned Latino 7 yrs ago then I moved (parent house became mine) 2 years ago and that house was in a great school district with several presidential excellence ranked schools.
My neighborhood is probably 90 percent or more white. I don't know if there are currently any black people. Once in a while I see someone black walking or riding a bicycle, but I don't know if they live right here or are out for exercise. Maybe at most 9 or 10 percent of the neighbors are Hispanic. I wave to everyone when I am out walking. I talk to a few neighbors but not much except to one lady I go walking with frequently. She chats with everyone.
I use to live in a mixed neighborhood when I lived in Colorado that consisted of latinos, hispanics, white, black, asian or biracial. But given that there was a big percentage of latinos, I would sometimes see older women or men pushing a small mexican snack cart through the neighborhood selling mango on a stick, churros, mexican candy, etc. That’s when I discovered I hated mangoes 😂. Now that I’m in Arkansas, my neighbors are mostly black, white, or biracial.
But for real I do know a few people who live in 90plus % white towns and not ONE of them will say that’s the reason . They only say good schools. They want you to believe the 90% white is like a coincidence or something . Like they had no idea of the racial makeup. They aren’t all republicans either.
One side neighbor is Italian (like from Italy), the other side neighbor is black (Caribbean ). Across my street is Jewish . Like wears a yarmulka Jewish . These are all families btw.
I have yet to see someone who looks like me but they could be out there. My area is predominantly white with hispanic being the next largest group followed by black. It's a peaceful and friendly place.
My city is extremely diverse. My neighborhood is extremely close to the middle of our city so its fairly mixed with literally every major group but I'd have to say that Latino overwhelms the other ethnic groups in my immediate little neighborhood but it also borders The Ghandi district so tons people from various Muslim and Hindu countries have their bakeries, restaurants, dress, jewelry, halal meat shops within walking distance.
