@dancingtongue that's an interesting point but in this case I think it was more the result of some still primitive program that spotted me searching the arcteryx page and responds by sending me arteryx adds, but wasn't advanced enough to spot that I already bought it and conclude that I will probably not buy another one. if it were smarter, it would be sending me adds of things that go with this purchase: with a proshell he'll need isolating layers to go under it, he might wants ski pnts that are in the same style as the jacket, maybe an arcteryx hat or gloves.

@reflectingmonkey i agree me and a friend were talking about a certain car.not on phones but for real ten minutes later adds pop up on his phone about adds selling that car if u read you tubes privacy add it says u give them permission to use ur microne and camera anytime they please.hence they ate listening

@Lilnonames damn, I use to think that these were conspiracy theories but a young girl I know studies e-commerce in university and she confirmed to me that they are always listening, even if the phone is just sitting there on the table.
