dont you just hate it when defrosting your freezer
and you forget you had all frozen food out on kitchen counter and hours later when you finally remembered what you were doing and all of the food is defrosted and basically wasted? I could just cry right now.. I wont, but I could 🥺
You need to buy a cooler, the sort you use for picnics. You can put the meat and the important things in there, and they will stay frozen. As long as there are ice crystals it's okay to put it back in afterward.
In the meantime, invest in an electric freezer defroster. Does the job pretty fast. Looks like this:
@ZashaKitty The big styrofoam coolers can be cheap. If you buy the electric defroster on ebay, you can get out of it pretty cheap and be ready for next time!
@ZashaKitty I used to put boiling water in a container and close the door of freezer to let the ice melt quickly. Sometimes had to reboil the water again.
I run the food stock down in the freezer before defrosting. After defrosting and cleaning there is nothing to go back into the freezer. The job is much easier and no food is lost.I turn on the freezer, let it get to temperature and restock from the supermarket.
I used to stick em in a bin, throw a blanket over them to keep them cold and use a pan of hot water in the freezer and close the door awhile, and also used a hair dryer on high to blow hot air into it to hurry it up and loosen the ice quicker.
