With new virus strain announced today "the African varient."

What are we gonna do as this strain is said to be more deadly n more dangerous to health n existing vaccines won't help effectively to fight against it!!

It's a scare tactic used to divide us and shut us all down.
@BizSuitStacy You don't understand viruses, do you? They don't give a fuck about shutting down anything, limiting humans, control or anything except reproducing themselves.
@NerdyPotato LMAO! The virus is coming for you!! Run! Run like the wind in fear. Ohhh, we're doomed! 😱
@BizSuitStacy You sound sarcastic, but that is reality... And being in good condition doesn't keep you safe. Having pre-existing conditions makes your chances worse, but a significant percentage of perfectly healthy people has become permanently disabled by the Delta variant as well, and it seems like the Omicron variant will "improve" those chances.
@NerdyPotato
You sound sarcastic
Really? What was your first clue?

@BizSuitStacy Don't forget about the part of microchipping us and if that doesn't stick (literally), use the one about making us magnetic. You know, because no virus can mutate, nothing harmful can occur, and everything is coming up unicorns and rainbows. How else can we own the libs?

@BizSuitStacy It's your decision, but don't come complaining if you catch long COVID.
@NerdyPotato I disagree. I encourage @BizSuitStacy to complain about it here if she gets sick.
@LordShadowfire @NerdyPotato had it already just over a year ago. Was sick for about 10 days with mild flu-like symptoms.

@LordShadowfire I encourage you to complain when your booster results in blood clots, myocarditis, pulmonary embolism or swollen testicles. Oh wait...you don't have any.
@BizSuitStacy Have fun being on a ventilator and having COPD for the rest of your life.
@BizSuitStacy You do realize overcoming Delta or maybe even only Alpha offers no protection against Omicron, right?
@NerdyPotato By definition, @BizSuitStacy doesn't have the mental capacity.
@LordShadowfire let's not revert to insults. Misinformation is difficult to combat with (social) media only showing you what sells to you unless you actively search very specifically for other viewpoints and few people have the time or skills for that.

@NerdyPotato I find it very hard sometimes. These people are being willfully stupid, and it enrages me. It enrages me because they are putting lives in danger with their intentional stupidity.

@BizSuitStacy To protect you against the variants you haven't caught yet... Is that really so hard to understand?
@NerdyPotato You realize you just contradicted yourself, right?
@BizSuitStacy how? You said you had COVID already and I said that only protects you against the variant you had and are still vulnerable to the others. The vaccine works against all of them and experts tell you to get vaccinated to protect you against the ones you're not immune to yet. What's the contradiction?
@NerdyPotato the boosters being given for the variants are still the original formula. Viroligists and immunologists will tell you natural immunity tends to be better as the body better recognizes the variants.
@BizSuitStacy correct on both accounts. The original formula protects against all variants and immunity through infection is better against one. I still don't recommend catching every variant for natural immunity though.
@NerdyPotato and there is your contradiction. If the vaccine based off of the alpha variant is effective against all strains, natural immunity derived from the alpha variant would be as rffective, if not superior to the vaccines against all variants. And no one yet knows with certainty if the vaccine is effective against omicron.
