Why are doctors and nurses so overweight ?

because they have personal freedoms the same way you do. why are so many patients overweight? I've seen patients weigh 4 hundred pounds nearly falling on and killing a staff member.

Highly stressful jobs. Eating as they can and with limited time. Poor sleeping schedules. Lack of adequate exercise.

It isn’t just about what they eat.

I understand this though it isn't true for all of us. I'm a healthy weight.

Salad is a high effort food. It requires a lot more attention than a burger.

Clinical staff are people too. It's hard to eat a salad when your day is already draining you. You need something that feels like a hug. The stress also has negative effects.

maybe this was true years ago but today the doctors I see in social interaction aren't overweight. I feed my husband well balanced meals and he exercises at home often. now some of the wives I interact with are a different story

Just because you know better doesn’t mean you will do better. I’m an esthetician (skincare specialist) and I rarely even use spf lol

Also, I’m assuming right now and even before they are overworked. Convenient food is often the most unhealthy. But if you do crazy amount of hours of work like they do, I don’t blame them for choosing pizza.

I wouldn’t be going into 10 hours of surgery and then going home to cook a healthy meal. I’m getting beer and going to Taco Bell.

They eat the left over food when people die

Logic left long time ago. Example. Virus doesn’t infect you when eating or smoking

but seriously our doctors and nurses aren't fat

I think we should discuss patients that come in with dirty underwear and BO
but you have to act as if you don't notice

maybe we can talk about how in septic you opened a wound and have to stomp out maggots or the time you removed a potato from a vagina

Because they have to go without proper food and rest.

I know a guy who was studying to become a dietologist who gave up on university after becoming essentially obese, on the other hand. This after a long period in which he had deprived himself of almost everything. Literally going from one extreme to the other.

Hmmm? I'm in a hospital at this very moment and looking around at the doctor's, nurses and color coded staff, and mostly they are trim and fit.

Extremely long hours, exhausting workload, high stress job, fast meals, very little sleep, etc.

Stress, lack of time, and fucked up sleep schedules.

Not where I live.

Hard and high stress job like that needs both fuel and a break into normality to keep them sane

They only work because money is essential. Health isn't really their goal, and working in this system guarantees bad health.

That explains why people get so heavy

Not many of them are.

Great question. I know of two doctors that died of lung cancer, both of them smoked cigarettes and ate junk food.
