Pro get between 80 and 95% chance at immunity.pro get to travel to countries and areas that require vaccine without doing quarantine. Deciding when you get the desease if you react badly to the vaccine, instead of getting it randomly. You also lower your chances of being one of the 4 million deaths by Covid.

Cons: you get between 20% and 5% chances of wasting your time for nothing(doesn't work for you, no inmunity). You get a small chance of mild side effects that last under 48 hours. You get a chance in over a million of death by stroke related to vaccines.

Overall the chances of dying because of Covid are much higher than those of dying from the vaccine.

However these are simple facts. Since these facts are out there for everyone to see yet they choose not to take the vaccine, their decision is not a rational but emotional one. So your chances of changing their mind are slim.

I mean that’s why it’s called a lab leak theory it’s just ridiculous to brush it under the rug like only a conspiracy theorist would be taking about it @NerdyPotato

I work in a ware house with a 40% infection rate. A year later I have never gotten sick. Why would I risk death on a experimental drug? The FDA will not approve it.

900 deaths out of 30 million. Maths was not your strong suit.. or your just a good little government pleb..
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout Your fellow Australians are apparently meant to live in fear of your ‘I’m OK so I’m happy to put the rest of you at risk’ attitude.

Please stay away from my side of the Tasman.
@newjaninev2 oh just shut up and obey.. wear a mask.. shush pleb

Watching the replies here I have decided that this is the next evolution of the Darwin awards.. Probably not a bad thing in the future of the species..
SW-User
Yeah we are already seeing side effects with blood clots and messing with women’s periods we’ll see how much more damage this unrest vaccine is going to do. You’re right about the Darwin Awards but your smug arrogance makes me think you were referring to those who isn’t getting the vaccine @whowasthatmaskedman
@whowasthatmaskedman yep, people refusing to take the vaccine will be severely limited in how many people they can meet (and rightly so), which will make procreating a lot more difficult. It's all going to even itself out within one generation.
SW-User
Maybe where you’re from but my state has zero restrictions right now regardless if you got the vaccine or not so my life in my state is unaffected. @NerdyPotato
Pros: risk of death from contraction of virus decreases to almost nonexistent. Cons: sore arm, mild malaise for 3 days at most, or rare complications, the same risk as with any modern medicines. Have you seen some of the commercials? "Risk of death for this or that prescription may occur"... Yes, take at your own risk but the #s speak for themselves, people are not dying from covid with these vaccines. The chances for some condition or random death after vaccine are slim.

Really you have to decide how valuable your life & others' are, & whether or not you are part of the solution. I'm not saying it's bad to be skeptical, but those who refuse to get it, what do you know about medicine? Or anything really?
Nimbus · M
@lovelywarpedlemon Excellent.

Good point.
SW-User
If you are at risk there is a pro thst you are at less of a risk. The con is we don’t know what the long term outcome is going to be with these especially since this is one of the first vaccines using mRNA. The trails for this vaccine isn’t even over until 2023 anyone taking it until then is a test subject. If you are low risk I see no pros of taking this vaccine. On the same level I never get a flu shot and it has never been looked at as a political statement or me being considered anti vax I just never felt like I was at risk enough to need one. Pretty much the same logic as now outside of the fact I don’t trust the massive push to take something that hasn’t been proven safe yet

@SW-User Interesting 👍

You won’t be able to travel outside the US if you aren’t vaccinated. There is less chance of getting Covid if you are vaccinated.
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@justanothername Thats already been flagged for Australia. They are also talking about Vaccinated people not being subject to quarantine interstate during lockdowns if vaccinated. Not the law yet though.
dakotaviper · 56-60, M
@justanothername I know of people that have been outside the US quite recently and didn't get the vaccine.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
People need to mind their own business is what I tell em when they start up on me.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Nimbus I had one guy I used to work with that is a few years younger than me try to lecture me on wearing a mask and getting a vaccine when i saw him at a local grocery store last summer. Talked me so patronizing like I was a invalid or some shit. I was nicer than I should have been to him but if it happens again I’m not going to be nice. I’ll start off by asking him if he’s surprised that I’m still alive & kicking and then the conversation will go downhill really fast. The nosy MF.
Nimbus · M
@cherokeepatti lolol, I can imagine you saying that Patti :)
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Nimbus He needs to mind his own business the same way I did when he was messing around with a woman at work, both were married. Now he wants to be a Karen and be all up into my business and I’ve been retired for 12 years.
dakotaviper · 56-60, M
There are many people who think that they're invincible. Those are the ones who will never get the vaccine.
Then there are those that refuse to get the vaccine because it didn't take the 10 years to get FDA Approval like every other drug that comes out. The USA is the only country that requires more than a year for any new drug. The majority of the countries (including Europe) requires less than 6 months.
Then there's the rest of us who took the vaccine when it was offered.
I got the first available in my area for my age group back on March 13, 2021 and it was the J&J Vaccine. I've had no problem with it since I got this vaccine and have been in contact with people that did test positive for COVID-19. Every test that I took since I got the vaccine (3 tests) came back negative.
Nimbus · M
Pros: you won't get COVID.
Cons: maybe a sore arm for a day.

Pick your favorite.
@SW-User you can still catch and pass on Sars-CoV-2 (the virus), but you won't get COVID-19 (the disease) or only an extremely light version.
Elessar · 26-30, M
@SW-User And anyway, once everyone eligible has gotten their shot, it's a non-issue if it'll only causes a mild disease. We spread viruses that cause mild diseases all the time.

The problem exists so long as there's still a significant percentage of people who haven't got immunized yet, and for them it isn't mild.
SW-User
@Elessar I know, he stated you can’t get it but you can and still pass it on but obviously it’s not life threatening and milder.
SweetMae · 70-79, F
I don't believe so. Most people have decided and won't change their minds.

@SweetMae Exactly!

I don't know of anyone who has changed their mind.

Your risking your health and life with those vaccines then u are with the virus. None of my family has got the vaccine and nobody in my family has got the virus
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@newjaninev2 Did you get your TB vaccine?
smileylovesgaming · 31-35, F
@newjaninev2 I don't know anyone that has had the virus.
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@MrBrownstone I’ve had every vaccine known to medical science
I don't know.
They wont get vaccinated for what they feel are valid reasons. No one wants to think of themselves as foolish and wrong.
A lot of the cons are the unknown. And the pros are the whole , lack of disease in their lives and living longer, recovering faster if they do happen to get one of the many variants that the vaccine does not cover.
Nimbus · M
@nonsensiclesnail Good summary.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
As I predicted, factor this in for a pro.. This trend will spread,

@Nyloncapes Seems that way.

It might be for most things eventually.
You can get into Wimbledon if vaccinated I believe.

@TheSirfurryanimalWales I'd prefer Old Trafford. :)

It’s up to them to make that decision on getting the vaccine.

Pros: less likely to get extremely ill from Covid
Cons: sore arm, fatigue, etc.
Nimbus · M
@SW-User 👍
ScrewThisImDone · 26-30, F
Cons: not thoroughly tested, has side effects that are just now becoming known, people are still getting sick and dying from Covid

Pros: you can fly on planes
Nimbus · M

No
People are going to do what they want anyway
Nimbus · M
@SW-User I thought so.
People rarely change their minds.
SW-User
@Nimbus it's not worth trying to convince others of anything
Elessar · 26-30, M
@SW-User €40 for a test every single time one unvaccinated individual has to go anywhere public. I don't think most are so stubborn, they'll give up their antivaxx battle once they realize their choice is the most economically expensive one.
