The whole premise of the democrat politicians is ridiculous. Who in their right mind would think that a forced breach by an unorganized and unruly mob into such an important government building, would stop any kind of process, or be the least bit politically advantageous, for him? It is childish and ridiculous, and it astounds me that adults with so much power would, or could, make such a ludicrous assertion.

Yes, and it's infuriating because if they really wanted to prevent him from running for office again, they could have just invoked the 14th Amendment, which would prevent him from holding elected office with a simple majority vote. But apparently they decided to waste more time and capital by trying to impeach him despite knowing it won't work.

@LvChris You ain't wrong. A family friend of mine has turned into an overnight legal expert despite having been a barefoot acid-dropping Dead Head for the last fifteen years who believes that government shouldn't even exist and we should all be playing ukulele and braiding each other's hair.

@MrBlueGuy I am uncertain. I know he has open cases with the DA in New York and with the Internal Revenue Service so I would suppose so, but I'm not sure.

@Fukfacewillie They could have gotten him with the 14th Amendment instead of impeachment. All they'd need would be a majority vote, and he'd be prevented from ever holding elected office again. I have no fucking clue why they went through the trouble to impeach him, which takes a lot more time and needs more votes so they had to know from the start it wasn't gonna happen.

@BlueMetalChick It's a tough pill to swallow, but the trial will be a historical record, and I think that has value. I wish they would do the 14th Amendment, too.
