Do you have any tricks to stop thinking about unwanted thoughts?

Lately, I've taken to the philosophy of Stoicism adopting a state of mind that is indifferent to the insanity of Trumps unending barrage of infantile rants and threats.

I refuse to give him power to be inside my head rent free. My anxiety and stress has plummetted significantly. I have cultivated an attitude of indifference and my quality of life is significantly better.,
Not really. I just don't give them much attention. I acknowledge them and switch to thinking about something else, fill the space with new thoughts.

@bijouxbroussard Honey, do me a big favor and look into stoicism in recent months I have started to embrace this ancient philosophy because my anxiety levels were going out of the roof. Already there has been a marked difference, my mood is way much lighter, anxiety and insomnia have gone away. I no longer allow him (Donald Trump) the power to live in my head rent free. It's been a life changer my wonderful long time friend. PS the operant word is indifference.
@Grateful4you I will definitely check into it, and thank you. My anxiety has been interfering with my sleep even more than usual.
@bijouxbroussard Exactly same thing with me. I try and stay informed but only on the most brief, superficial level. The rest I hand over to the Universe and with a "good riddance" I smile.

this is really hard but not impossible. I have engaged my mind in my exam.
