Why aren't you living up to your potential?

Do you [i]want[/b] to end up living in a van down by the river? 🧐
SageWanderer · 70-79, M
I’d be happy to live in an RV traveling the countryside, seeing the sights and meeting new people.

@SageWanderer Me too. Lol.
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@SageWanderer @Tomorrow maybe you should get together 🤫

One of my future ideas is to LIVE in a souped up van with solar panels and travel around, if that is where life takes me. Could be interesting...

@SageWanderer Yikes! It's not to bad where I am, except for a few days. Overall it's been a mild winter.
SageWanderer · 70-79, M
@ravenwind43 And very little snow. I think a nice white coating would be better than these dark grey days.

Partly, I'm lazy, and always have been. Partly, I am introverted/shy to the point of having social anxiety, which was crippling back when I was young, which really gets in the way of networking. Partly, I have health issues that completely sap me of the energy needed to do the work, even stuff I'd really like to do. Partly, my wife has a variety of health issues that require my support constantly. Partly, I'm kind of perfectionist, so if things don't turn out perfectly on a project immediately, I kind of lose interest. All of these things contribute to chronic depression.

Really, though, it's mostly the lazy thing.

The total sum of all these things make a difference. It’s a big deal. All we hear is work hard, and you’ll reach your potential. It’s more complicated than this, and millions of people work hard, to just survive. Hard work does not equal success or potential. It can, sometimes, but for many it does not. @DunningKruger

Sounds kinda nice actually

@SW-User Yes. Lol. It does!

I’ve lost a few brain cells along the way, so what was is no more. I also don’t like this modern day PC culture. I’m old school, and I’d have to keep censoring myself and walk on eggshells. I have no desire to live like this. Been there, done that, and it’s no way to live.
helenS · 36-40, F
I'd prefer that to living in a big city anytime.
Tomorrow · 56-60, F
@helenS Me too!

@Tomorrow Another country mouse! 🐭
Tomorrow · 56-60, F
@helenS Yep! Lol.

Isn't an elaboration on "in a van down by the river", just what they now refer to as a "tiny house"?
trackman11 · 61-69, M
Might depend on the van and the river, but for now, I will just say, “no”
