I hate when people say “I don’t see race, I don’t see color”

Nice try. You only get a pass if you’re legally color blind 🤦🏽‍♀️

I can see a dark skin brother from a short yellow skin one ,,olive tones
but I do not pick and chose who I love based on that
I have put my life in the hands of men and women from all over the world
I was called a nigger lover since I was in the 3rd grade because I had more black friends and girls over white boys ,
I don't know why I didn't get along with to many white boys ,other then most of them I knew were bigots and bullies
I see kids with down syndrome ,,or birth defects too ,worked in a rehabilitation shelter with people with all types of deformities ,,
I took the time to understand people that most people blew off over speech impediments ..I had a cousin that was shot in the head ,hardly anyone could understand him ,,,,I could
But does it mean I love them less ? there are more ways to be a bigot then just skin color .
I have a brother in law who is an autistic savant ,2 grandsons that are autistic
3 step grandkids that are black ,a niece and a nephew that are mixed

I dislike anyone that is unkind and rude to others just for the sake of being rude ,,,
and assumes they know me because I am white and live in the south
I don't sugar coat either ,,and I have had a life time of dealing with jerks that love to hurt others ,,
I became a defender of the weak and ones to scared to stick up for themselves ,,even to taking on my parents
when they told me my black friends were not allowed in the house
Both of them were converts long before they died
They found out ,I had a knack for picking true friends ,regardless of the color of their skin ,or the country they came from ,,Mom also disliked Mexicans and Japs as she called them ,,Chinks and wet backs ...
That is the difference ,,its not that I am color blind
I see hearts and character ,,and I have been hurt by more white people than any other color
I also dislike how there seems to be a push to relive a war that has been over for over 100 yrs ,,,we are friends with Japan that bombed us ,
and still fighting over the civil war
most of the people I know wont admit we destroyed a country that did nothing to us when we bombed Iraq ,,and until we messed with their government
Iran used to respect us too ,,
But we keep soldiers on the DMZ ,,,still not quite ready to end our war with Korea ,,Trump had to walk away from that deal

cheers for that but I genuinely don't notice

It is not whether a person sees it or notices it...it comes down to how a person acts or reacts toward it. Like you said you can't help but see a person's skin color unless you're blind, and you cant help but notice when a person is of a different ethnicity...but it's how you treat that person because of it that matters.

I see both. No shame in it.

p.s. Too many of your posts are about racism and color.
To be honest, Though my mother is Spanish and my Father is Jamaican, and I was born in the United States of America, if you asked what I am, I would tell you I am a man and a citizen of this world. No one, or anything...puts me in a box! I define who and I am.

I think the operative word here is “see” as in you literally don’t see the color of someone unless you are color blind, or blind. I don’t factor race or ethnicity with judgements of people, but when meeting someone I do notice the color of their skin, shirt, pants, shoes (well maybe I’m not that observant), I notice the colors of our surroundings. Not saying anything about the person based on that, just that I “see” it. No boxes.

Put another way, if we met, then walked away and the police came up to you and asked for a description that included what color was the person (which in and of itself is so wrong because nobody is really white or black), would you be able to give the answer? @RenaissanceMan

@RenaissanceMan you’re confusing what you are with what you see
@Lackwittyname no one can 'see' race. I was answering the question in the context in which it was asked.

Right

The good thing is to see it yet not discriminate against it.

Cuz you're obviously racist against whites

I just got woke. 😲

I wasn't there to know context but I'm sure that's not what they meant. You could mean it subjectively and not literally.
Well I’m sure they realize that a person is a different race but maybe they just don’t genuinely care enough to think about it.
Anonymouslyyours86 · 36-40, F
I think they are implying everyone is the same regardless of race I don’t think they were being a racist
Lackwittyname · 51-55, M
Agreed but the operative word is “see” and she points out “legally blind” as in you literally do not see it. Not saying people don’t accept others as they are for who they are, just the “see” thing. Not even accusing anyone of racism, just seeing a person for who they are. @Anonymouslyyours86
JovialPlutonian · 36-40, M
They just mean they're not bound by it.
I don't need a pass or permission for anything
Lackwittyname · 51-55, M
Maybe they are very unobservant
Bagalamaga · 56-60, M
A pass from who? You?
