most apartments in my area are about 1100$ a month but we have laws about increasing rent which advantages people who have been in the same place for a long time, which is the case for my roommate, our rent is only around 750-800 U.S. (I'm Canadian). my area used to be the artsy, bohemian area with the cheapest rent but was a victim of its coolness. now rents are way more expensive.

I just moved but the city I lived in the average price is about $2,700. And that doesn't guarantee a nice neighborhood.

Around here in MA, about $1400... but I know people in the Midwest have said it's only 700!! MA is high priced living :/
