It can be mental health issues (which can be due to a number of reasons), greed, hatred, paranoia, lack of empathy (e.g. sociopathy and psychopathy) ...the list goes on. People are complex so there is no one reason that all people do a specific thing which is why I said the act instead of the reason behind the act.

@WindOfAdolf I cry for all loss of innocent life. It can be done without offending other innocent people.
