That is a word I don't believe I have ever been called.
SassySarah · 46-50, T
@SW-User aw babe, that's a shame

SW-User
Depends on who calls me that. My best friend and girlfriend both call me that, but if anyone other than him or her said that to me I'd probably be really uncomfortable.
Serenitree · F
@SW-User Okay. I'll resist the urge, but now that you've planted that thought in my mind, well......it's just a good thing we have an edit button. 😊

SW-User
My husband calls me that all the time I'm fine with it. Anybody else saying it would probably weird me out

many don't know the meaning of "Terms Of Endearment" and as far as I can remember it was the year 1998 when the Supreme Court decided it could hold employers liable... I call most of my friends sweetie or babe,, but not in a harassing way.. I mean it in the sincerest way..
bijouxbroussard · F
@ChatterinSeuss As long as you’re calling your male friends that, too...😜
Dlrannie · 31-35, F
Not my favourite term of endearment 😗

Weird. But usually it's baby instead, by slightly younger people (both male and female). My 🐻 can call me either.

Makes me feel like a stud muffin 😬

@Les02 Cool! I have some les friends and they are all actually closer with each other than the straight married couples that i know. You all must be doing something right.
Les02 · 26-30, F
@SW-User Yup 👅😏

If I love the person, I'm okay with it.
Aleighsha · 31-35, F
I don’t mind “babe” if it’s coming from someone I know. But nicknames like dear or sweetie I think are fine from strangers if they aren’t using it in a condescending way. I guess babe or hun just seem very comfortable and sound kind of strange coming from someone I don’t know.
Les02 · 26-30, F
I don’t like guys calling me babe.
Depends who calls me that...
There is only ine here that calls me babe and I don't mind it...

@MarmeeMarch Of course. Context is everything. My daughter's best friend calls me mama. I know that's because she loves me. My granddaughter had a male friend whom I was meeting for the first time. She introduced us and told him my name. He instantly started calling me nana. I told him, call me by my name or don't talk to me at all. He laughed at me. And called me nana. I laughed at him and called him asshole. He called me by my name after that. Yup, context counts.
My granddaughter in law calls me nana. I like it from her.

It really depends on who's doing it. And why. My parents used to call me baby, or babe, and I do it with my kids and theirs.
bijouxbroussard · F
No one calls me that in rl, which really is just as well.

It makes me want to punch someone. It's like a strange male at a store or a restaurant calls you "honey". I am not your babe, your sweetie, your little sugar pie, and am I am not sweet. If you want to be overly familiar with a strange woman, always check your pair afterward to see if they are still there.
4meAndyou · F
@MarmeeMarch I said, "Makes me want to." And I do not wish to be charming so that I can be belittled.

It sounds slutty, I don’t like guys calling me that.. women can though... it doesn’t feel like it has the same connotations when women say it
