Why people hide their real personality?

I do it at work so people will leave me alone. I just want to get my check & go.

Fear of rejection most likely
Serenitree · F
In real life I think different people have different reasons. Some are hiding behind a lie because they don't feel interesting enough as themselves. Others have shame about something. People have reasons for wearing the masks they wear. Mostly, I believe, the reasons aren't I'll intended. But there are those who lie to get us to trust, so they can steal, or cheat us in some other way.

On line, I think, for some it's just living a fantasy that no one who actually knows them will ever believe.

@Serenitree ppl need to learn to discern what it true for them!
JovialPlutonian · 36-40, M
Because as a society you have all rejected your true nature, so of course ppl hide it, out of fear of rejection. Suppose I was lucky I was rejected at a young age, not that one exactly forgets the feeling and the scapegoating, yeh yol can go do one, if you'd excuse my language.
JovialPlutonian · 36-40, M
@Serenitree ppl are innocent in the cruelty and in anything we all do. Education is the issue, ppl lack a lot of awareness, even in the most basic level.
JovialPlutonian · 36-40, M
@Serenitree yes I was there but for me being outcastes already, I don't have to deal with the same issues as most as I'm already rejected, others are still trying to keep up with not being rejected, it's amazing how ppl will behave.

@JovialPlutonian People are innocent in their cruelty?

Okay....sorry, I'm done with this. I've had people I love die, because of that innocent cruelty. I'm opting out of this conversation and all it's bs.

Bye now!

I hide alot of mine because I'm generally an offensive person, I mean the things I make jokes out of have most people shaking their poor, tiny little heads in horror and outrage. Like when I'm out with my wife and we suddenly hear a screaming child, and I say Jimmy saville must be in town.

Personal life is like condom where everyone wants to hide, but they are interested in sex

It's part of being anonymous. They can safely hide behind the anonymity
JovialPlutonian · 36-40, M
Anyone that doesn't need to hide would be understanding of those that do. Positive encouragement would be more effective in helping them to achieve the same. Make them independent :)@GJOFJ3

Fear of not being accepted? Stems from youth sadly.

Because they fear others may dislike them for it.

A psychosis of some kind.
SW-User
Because realities are scary. I can't face them myself, how can I put them out to others, just to be judged, rejected and hated?
JovialPlutonian · 36-40, M
@SW-User when you love yourself, everyone else will. They are you reflection. What you wish to see in the mirror, you show :)
Serenitree · F
Maybe they don't like the life they're living and by pretending to be different they can imagine their lives are better.
Scarfface · 46-50, M
Because I'm rubbish
Scarfface · 46-50, M
@Serenitree I don't know, I've just always been rubbish
Serenitree · F
@Scarfface well, someone, somewhere must have convinced you of that. You're in your forties. Time to do some soul searching....find out who put that into your head and heart....deal with it, face to face or, at least have a chat with your own self, and give yourself permission to tell whoever poisoned you against yourself, to take a flying leap. You're an adult. Throw away the negative teachings and find your true self. .
JovialPlutonian · 36-40, M
@Scarfface then choose otherwise if you wish to experience something else:)

Politeness.
Serenitree · F
@RosaDawn Politeness? I don't understand.
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
Dunno. I don't.
Often, fear of being misunderstood.
Perhaps they don’t like it, or have had bad reactions in the past. 🤔
