How did guns in the US become so beloved?

Does it all come down to the second amendment?
Allelse · 36-40, M
It all goes back to their rebellion. All about taking up arms and fighting the great and evil tyrant!!! When truth be told the war was won by real soldiers, and while the militia certainly had their part to play, the war was not won by mad nutters taking their fowling pieces off the wall, to go take shots at redcoats; I mean the yanks are all "We saved the French in WW2" All while forgetting the frogs saved them in War of Independence. Which is ironic in the end. You see, there was a war where the English kicked the French out of America, 7 years war and to help pay for that war the British raised taxes on the Colonies, fair enough which was one of the things, that those stuck up wankers like Jefferson had a problem with, which then led to their little rebellion. That and alot of the folk who left Europe to settle in America had the approach of "You cant tell me what to do!!! I'll go make my own country!!!".

I mean why everyday folk feel they need to 'protect their homes!!' is beyond me. I mean the Indians, well, fair enough, and even that lot, Geronimo and the like were some of the best guirilla fighters in the world lost or gave up in the end. Oh sure! Crazy Horse got lucky but that didn't last that long. If some mad nutter doesn't want to give up his guns, what fucking use is he going to be against properly trained soldiers, going in to take him out? Even if a bunch of redneck yahoos go guirilla in Colorado or West Virginia, there wont be enough of them to make much of an effect, that and I doubt many of them will be united in anything but their hatred for the Us government.

I think in the end it comes to insecurity!! Yanks like to own guns because it gives them the illusion that they are safe, safe from their government, safe from robbers and safe from each other. When really their government could come a knocking with the full force of the united states armed forces, and a few fat fucks armed with rifles out in Maine, or Florida somewhere wouldn't be able to do a damn thing about it.

@acpguy Oh you're a conspiracy nutter too, do you also think the Lizard People control the world?
acpguy · C
@Allelse Not too bright, I am not even close to being a conspiracy nut. But since you are most likely a lame brain liberal you will argue anything to no end without using any logic.
acpguy · C
@Allelse I see you are another of those idiots from Australia that do not mind having your government control your life. Here in the USA we are trying to keep that from happening as some of us are not sheep like you folks.
We never would have had our country if we hadn't fought the British for it in the first place.. Our country is basicly founded on guns and rebelling against our own government.. No doubt civil war will ensue if they attempt to disarm us.. Shrugs

@SStarfish the US isn’t the only country that fought for its freedom through “gunpowder and blood” yet this kind of mentality is only deeply valued here. I feel like people made sure it remained that way.
acpguy · C
@PersianRoseVA For good reason. Even today we have a group that wants to tear our government apart because they cannot tolerate an honest person that is trying to get rid of corruption. The corrupt cannot stand it and I am afraid that this is going to lead to a revolution if they get their way. Bad part is we lack people with any back bone or knowledge of history.
Settling the wild wild west was no easy task for the pioneers.

@Allelse I am sorry you are too dumb to understand. You live in a small world controlled by fake news.
Allelse · 36-40, M
@acpguy So you cant explain what you were talking about? A small world? Oh the fake news? Run by the Lizard People?
acpguy · C
@Allelse And you are another of the Australian sheep controlled by your government to the point you are too f'ing dumb to know that you are being controlled.

It was a fun way to exterminate the injuns and buffalo- and to keep slaves in line. Very patriotic.

@Peekaboo20 Not very bright ding-dong. Guns provided food and still do. They protected people from animals (as I stated above) both two legged and four. And I as I stated before: look how things turned out in countries where dictators and tyrants took guns away from people as they told the people they would be protected by their government. You lack education and knowledge,my guess is you are under 50 years old and your education was via a democrat controlled school system.

You might see some bad answers from liberals and democrats, but guns actually become favored in the USA for several reasons. One of the foremost is that they were used for a very long time and still are, for getting food. Second they were one of the best ways to defend one's self against animals of both the four legged type and two legged type, and they are still used for that purpose and the type of animal depends on where you live. Another of the primary uses was to fight against tyranny of all types; the British in the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812. They were used to fight the Mexicans and Mexican bandits along the Southern Border a long time ago and there is still some need for that today. We have depended on guns all through our history for many reasons and today many are good investments as they are collector's items. Many ill educated people want to take them away but do not realize they have very good purposes in the hands of good people. Hitler, Castro, Mussolini other dictators took guns away from good people and look at what happened in those countries along with several others.
it's kind of baked into our heritage

we were a english colony at the beginning of our history

after decades of what was considered unfair treatment the people used their muskets and pistols to fight off the english

there were periods of times where the english attempted to confiscate weapons to keep the colonists in line.

and so the ability to have firearms to protect family and community was born.
The second amendment was written when there were muskets to defend yourself with, the second amendment was co-opted by gun manufacturers to mean what it does today.

Gunpowder and blood is what has made the US. It's in the fabric of the flag.
