Amsterdam Tips

The museums are top notch. Be sure you getbto both the Van Gogh and nearby state museum. It is good that you have tix for Ann Frank, it is always booked solid.

Just my opinion though, after eating at one of the best restaurants for Dutch food, I understand why there are few if any famous Dutch restaurants. When we asked people from there where us the best Dutch food, they all answered, "in my home."

Lots of people to look up to there. Literally. They’re all tall.

I have not been there but the Van Gogh museum and the Rijksmuseum are high on my list!

My sister visited and she said it was miserable driving around there because of all the bikers. Probably best to just rent a bike and get around the city that way, or walk.

The van Gogh and the Rijsmusuem are in walking distance of each other.... Thing yourself a chocolate shop... One of those ones that had established in 1720 painted on the window.... Go in and drool lol... Marizpan in dark chocolate🤤

I'm not very familiar with Amsterdam, but have heard the Rijksmuseum is worth visiting. I have been to Madam Tussaud, which you may like too. I don't know any pasty venues there, but there are probably plenty and Google maps can help you find one with good reviews.

Do not get your coffee at coffee shops! Go to cafes for that.

Tulips are out of season, so you won't see any of those in the wild at the moment. If you're up for a few hours of travel, Pantropica (former Orchideeënhoeve) is a nice indoor garden with various plants and animals from all over the world, including a section for native orchids.

Madurodam is also nice at a small hour away from Amsterdam in The Hague. It's a miniature city featuring buildings from all over the Netherlands.

A lot of good stuff has already been mentioned. But just a stroll around the canals is also nice. Where it is less touristy.

I don't think there are any windmills in Amsterdam.

If you fancy going to the cinema, consider going to Tuschinski and get a movie in room/hall 1 (currently The Odysee. Its beautiful but the whole building is beautiful.

And yes, the Rijksmuseum is spectacular, even the architecture and decoration of the building itself.

Book the Van Gogh museum before you go.

The Anne Frank house and museum is another book early one, good you've got your tickets. Very moving, made me both hate humans capacity for hatred of other humans and be amazed at humans ability for compassion simultaneously.

I enjoyed the Rijksmuseum too. Interesting to read their views on the 1667 Raid on the Medway.

I recommend the people below for a canal trip. They seemed to have the most well looked after boats imho.

theres a fascinating torture museum and a secs museum I've never been to. the heineken factory tour was nice.
