@sumojumo Not hardly, but we did get to wander around the area quite a bit
sumojumo · 36-40, M
@sunsporter1649 did you ever go there after? To see it from a different perspective?
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@sumojumo not interested

hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
I went to church in a small town.
My trip to the beach
@sumojumo went to Atlantic City. Feel totally relaxed now.
sumojumo · 36-40, M
@FrogManSometimesLooksBothWays beaches are relaxing, when not crowded
@FrogManSometimesLooksBothWays It was brutal because I lost my ID and my credit card.
katydidnt · 61-69, F
Slowly westward with my hubby, from the Atlantic to the Pacific...
...aboard bicycles.

Any time I went to Cyprus. It made me see more and more what different cultures made mine.

Going to Italy
sumojumo · 36-40, M
@KentuckyFriedFloozy nice places, unfortunately in recent years incredibly crowded
KentuckyFriedFloozy · 26-30, F
@sumojumo it was crowded when I was there
sumojumo · 36-40, M
@KentuckyFriedFloozy it became unbearable. But there are still nice and cosy and empty places around italy. For your next trip maybe?

Amsterdam
nobodyishome · 31-35, F
@sumojumo i went to one, and felt very bad for the women there. We had to see through a window, and the girls were in a big room performing. I felt very bad for them
sumojumo · 36-40, M
@nobodyishome I definitely understand what you mean, it feels like a zoo with people.
nobodyishome · 31-35, F
@sumojumo You put it into words!!!!!!!! Yes, I wanted to use the word Zoo

Inland Turkey and also a small road trip across Crete. Purely for landscape and different climate. I want to experience something like this again.
sumojumo · 36-40, M
@CrazyMusicLover try the Dodecanese Islands, Karpathos, Kos, Kalymnos.
Lovely places, similar to Crete, yet Every Island quite different

@sumojumo My cousin told me about Korfu recently. Allegedly it's super green and it rained there even when he visited in July. It sounds interesting too.
sumojumo · 36-40, M
@CrazyMusicLover absolutely, Corfu is another landscape worth seeing in Greece.
Greece has a lot to offer everywhere

Brutal? The catacombs in Rome...AND there is a shocking CHURCH in Rome decorated entirely with human bones on the inside. The church is called Santa Maria de Concezione dei Cappuccini.
In both places, when I realized there were human REMAINS casually displayed and close, all around me, I felt a real sense of shock. I couldn't wait for it to stop.

I got stranded once in S. Korea due to an issue with my passport. Had to navigate through a non-English speaking neighborhood to get to an embassy. It was an interesting experience.
nobodyishome · 31-35, F
@graceyyy Oh. Dude, can you believe it, I was stranded in Mumbai with absolutely no money and without an airline ticket. I was travelling from Berlin to Greece To Mumbai to Hyderabad. Missed my flight, and had no internet, no phone, and zero cash. Also, left the airport. Literally on the road in midnight. Scaryyyyy, but somehow I found people who helped. That too in Mumbai. Was good luck to me! Never again, Inshallah 🙏
graceyyy · New
@nobodyishome that is scary, especially as a solo female traveller. Glad you made it home safely!
Ramrod · 46-50, M
Well, for me all travel destinations have been a very positive impact,i don't remember one that i would call brutal, just minor issues here and there and that includes three cruises and flying to several different states. :)

Ireland, both north and south, all around, was a lot of fun (very friendly people), and also very educational. The Great Hunger (what we in the US were taught to call the potato famine). The Troubles. The natural beauty of the invasive purple rhododendrons!
But also, Lamanai, (meaning submerged crocodile), a place of Mayan pyramids in northern Belize. Seeing those enormous pyramids, but also traces of others that were still buried by jungle! Overwhelming. Nothing like the pyramids surrounded by sand in Egypt. I am so glad I saw that place.
One more thing. We visited sites from the Siege of Sarajevo. While there, we were told of allegations that rich Europeans paid the Bosnian Serb Army for the privilege of shooting at Bosnian civilians in "Sniper Alley." They would have their fun and then go back home. Pretty brutal if it is true.

For history it was Salem Massachusetts. Seeing where they held the witch trials. The house of the seven gables is open for tours. They even take you through the secret passages where people could hide or escape if they were accused of being a witch.
New York City would be the wild one. The City never sleeps.
The biggest surprise was Oklahoma City. I had a wonderful time there. So much so that I would love to go back.
My bucket list destination was Key West. We had so much fun there. I would love to go back regularly, but it's so expensive.
