It’s a balancing act with the finances. I’m very frugal in day to day life but much more likely to let it fly in terms of travel within reason. If we’re taking long flights, I’ve begun springing for first class seats, because it usually comes with lounge access for layovers and is just a night and day difference in terms of the experience. I’m also going to spend money on trying as much of the local food as we can. My favorite type of vacation is to avoid a locked in itinerary and just explore, and if we happen upon something cool that costs money, so be it.

When you travel, always see and do as much as possible while you are there. The better the quality of your memory, the less regret you will have that you spent the money and did it all.. Go to the top of the worlds tallest building.. See the Pyramids.. Go to Disneyland. Yosemite, The Grand Canyon and Las Vegas. Go up the Eiffel Tower. Do it all..It will be worth it...😷

Don't get me wrong, I agree with the general sentiment. BUT if I go somewhere I actually want to go, I won't come back

The problem is not so much that I am not afraid to spend money on holidays. My big fear is the credit card statement at the end of it...

If you have a short time to spend you can always go back home. Then you will appreciate what you left behind. Well me anyway.

@tobynshorty I always love going home, even after the best holiday. Nothing like your own bed. 😀

@FreddieUK oh I know! My bed was so hard and uncomfortable 😣
My job took me all over the world so I’m happy just to sit in bars now.

I can't afford to travel anywhere.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Thevy29 Then isnt it fortunate you are already in one of the best places on earth?😷

@whowasthatmaskedman You cannot underestimate the experience of taking a swag and a billy can out bush. Doesn't cost me anything and the scenery is great.

FreddieUK · 70-79, M
@MartinTheFirst Try somewhere not too far away, so if you could get home quickly if you wanted to, but a bit different to the every day.
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@FreddieUK That's a good idea
