Jen, I have "I don't duck" syndrome..... At our age we earn are right to wear what the hell we want. We may not be no 20 year olds, but we can scare them. Because we were raised by our parents
NO! Age has nothing to do with wearing a bikini. You can be too heavy to wear a bikini but never too old. Bikinis were never designed to be worn by obese women which is why they're not made in extra-large, plus-plus sizes.
My mom is 49 years old and her and I wear very durable polyester Speedo 'sports' bikinis when we work together in her garden. Sports bikinis are for active wear out of the water, such as beach volleyball where they take a lot of physical abuse. When I was a teenager, I wore a sports bikini around our farm in summer instead of shorts. Tough and durable and they wear like iron.
My grandmother in Norway is 68 years old and she wears a bikini every single day that she goes walking on the public beach where she lives.
@FreeSpirit1 The very first bikini my mom made for me when I was a kid starting school at 5 years of age, was made of bulky knit purple wool she got on sale at Walmart that was as thick as cotton macrame bikini rope!
The pastel patterned yellow bikini I'm wearing in my icon photo is one I made myself last summer from a pattern I bought, which was a major accomplishment considering I don't make my own clothes!
The drawstring ties you can see at the sides are made of cotton and the front and back panels are a nylon and polyester blend that resembles fake silk in texture because it's not lined. My mom is a seamstress and she took this photo by her pool with her iPhone camera the day I showed up to demonstrate my artistic talents! 🫣
@FreeSpirit1 Oh my god, my two sisters and I had matching bikinis too! ...all made from that same giant ball of purple wool! It was only suppose to be me getting one, but we all ended up with exactly the same thing! The reason for all this was that I refused to wear a one-piece swimsuit at the public pool for my swimming lessons each week, so the two-piece swimsuit pattern my mom used got modified into a kid-bikini, which became her appeasement tool to satisfy my unrelenting demands apparently!
Then I spoiled myself later on in life and bought my first pure silk bikini which was hand-made by a pro in Norway, which I had to get fitted for on the premises.
You must know ladies won’t be the only ones weighing in… I’ve alway maintained that bikinis’ sole reason for existence is to show skin; as swimwear they’re rather impractical. So if you’re comfortable showing skin, age doesn’t really matter.
