All of former yugoslavia is still in upheaval. While Croatia itself is, parts are not even in the EU or recognized by the UN as countries.
Russia has huge stakes in the whole area still. Anything could happen.
Actually would rather live in parts of Ukraine. The western areas are relatively safe from Russia.
