@DeWayfarer Funny thing is most of the chaos in the former Yugoslavia is the direct result of western intervention or more accurately the US deciding to destroy the country purely for an ideological narrative.
It literally happened because the US could not claim a victory over socialism and "win" the cold war if a socialist country existed in Europe.
The former CIA station chief wrote a book (banned in the US but not Canada) talking about how he had people handing out literal duffel bags of USD to every random far right lunatic in Yugoslavia.
A friend of mine left Croatia for Canada because the west basically installed the Ustaša 2.0. Hell the modern Croatian flag is basically the 1930s fascist flag. Again they were not subtle about it.
Speaking of Ukraine the Euromaidan coup and everything that followed was largely copy/pasted from Yugoslavia.
Croatia is a member of the European Union and has been since July 1, 2013. However, there are territories like Liberland, which is a self-proclaimed micronation located on disputed land between Croatia and Serbia, that are not recognized by the UN or the EU.
@DeWayfarer That has absolutely nothing to do with Russia. They are absolutely not at fault for this. This is about when the US helped these people turn Yugoslavia into a US colony they didn't bother dealing with certain areas.

This has nothing to do with Russia.
Russia's only involvement was preventing the total colonization of all of Yugoslavia by drawing a red line in Serbia 30 years ago. And that was at the airport not in some camping site in the bush.

@DeWayfarer It was Finland and Sweden and they have been unofficial members since the 70s. The manufactured crisis in Ukraine is a great way to get public support to make it official that you will be the latest members of the American Foreign Legion.
The EU is not afraid of Russia. Russia is a convenient excuse to further make the EU the European win of the American Empire.
The EU has been actively working against European interests for years now on behalf of Washington. It even allows itself to be used as a bullshit excuse for NATO expansion.
Americans started the mess in Ukraine but Russia is finishing it.

Russia was an oligarchy during what the US considers the "glory days" of the violent drunk Boris Yeltsin.
