I have been there once and honestly, never again.

Way too many people and noise. Crime is at its apex during carnival and finally, I hate big crowds. Makes you feel unsafe, mainly as a woman.

@Blessica Don't get me wrong, I love Brazil and have seen so many beauties ranging from the Amazon in Manaus, Santarem and Belem down to the impressive Iguassu Waterfalls. I even was able to look at beautiful gems in Ouro Preto. I am a fan of Brazil.

Now, as for carnival, I was in Rio in February 2018 and everyone warned us about the crime rates and theft, mainly targeting tourists. There seems to have been a surge in crimes during that period directed towards tourists.

I would go anytime again to Rio, just not during carnival time.

@Blessica I am aware that crime against tourist is not just happening in Brazil but anywhere where tourists are seen as potential victims. It will happen in Europe, Asia and the Americas as well.
