I’m about 7 weeks removed from a 10 day Alaskan cruise. It was amazing. That was my 2nd cruise of this lifetime. I’m hoping for many more. I love it!
@iwishuwerehere Sure I would too!

Nah I can't stand (cruise) ships. You're basically a rat in a huge metallic cage; you will feel the tide, you will hear the metallic noises of the hull while you try to sleep, you will smell and breathe the stuff it burns as fuel. A single person on board is sick, farts, and the entire ship catches it. Food is mediocre even on those that go a great extent to publicize their kitchen, times for getting on and off board are biblical. They also pollute as if there wasn't a tomorrow.
@Elessar Very descriptive, been on one then?
Elessar · 26-30, M
@BritishFailedAesthetic Been on large ships, would never jump in one and call it a vacation. Also I've just summarized the experience of people I know, they aren't many but almost the totality said 'went to this one, that that was enough '
It's little more than a floating petri dish
Traditionally, flying was my mode of choice. Only recently did I consider a cruise.

Less a passenger, more the voyager; the excitement of approaching a historic port, or seeing a coastline come into view is enticing. Following the onboard moving map display, as the ship charts its course through the Strait of Gibraltar.

If it's not the destination, but the journey that counts with you; travel by ship is worth considering. Spanning the ocean fathoms at a time, in tens of knots, governed by winds and tide.

By contrast, flying is a dramatic change of place. Opening God's window on the world; and the herculean feat of trading topographies and culture.
Columbus knew the ocean was vast. But its sheer volume couldn't be understood in a single glance.
From 40, 000 ft its mirrored blue still takes 5 hours to cross, at 150 times his speed. But the edges of continents, and his New World, are plainly visible.
Occasionally, a white thread adrift below gives the only indication of angry seas.

The amenities of a cruise are attractive. As are the activities; but the cons of being closely confined appear as soon as incident or illness occur, or a mishap at sea.

Good luck in your decision.
@SethGreene531 Thanks but won't be able to afford one anytime soon! 😅 Stopping at different countries is the really appealing part!
@SethGreene531 Very well written. Couldnt agree with your discriptions more!
@TallMtnMedic I appreciate that, thank you kindly! ☺️

👍 Yes, travel is indeed a wondrous thing!
at the masquerade ball our bid won an Alaskan Cruise in the silent auction. looking forward to it next summer
@saragoodtimes What a prize!
@BritishFailedAesthetic a little bit of a bargain but still expensive
@saragoodtimes Absolutely worth it! Alaska was my first cruise!

-Get the drink package
-Pick your excursions as soon as you can. We picked helicopter ride to a glacier as our big one ($$$ though, but worth it. We actually were late to picking, but still got our main one I listed. The other two we got were otter tour, which included eagles and eagletts, and whales, and bus ride into Canada on top of a mountain and train ride back down. In Victoria, or last day, we skipped excursions and did our own brewery tours. Absolutely gorgeous!
Rose0415 · 36-40, F
Nah, not for me. If something goes wrong in the middle of the trip, miles away from land, you're screwed. I mean, let's face it.
@Rose0415 True, but I guess the probability of it happening is low.
@Rose0415 Do you fly too?
BrandonAngel2023 · 36-40, M
Well.. I HAVE back when i was younger i went on a Disney cruise to the Bahama's but i didn know then what i know now.. Women exsepcially come up missing on those cruise ships and its "Suspected" the cruise ships are in on it their part of "Trafficking" i will just say that.. Look up the story of Amy Bradley you can find videos about her on YouTube she went missing on a cruise ship and was never found.. However their where reports of her being seen and being whisked away by mysterious men.. And apprently she was seen being forced into being an adult film star.. And her parents have hired private investigators to find her with no results.. Its REALLY sad.. Those cruise ships aint no joke.. People dont even realize but..
@BrandonAngel2023 Guessing not now? 😅
BrandonAngel2023 · 36-40, M
@BritishFailedAesthetic yeah.. I dont think i would go on one now.. Course i mean it aint no different here in America people can go missing.. I watch those old Unsolved Mysteries shows.. You dont never know.. Stay safe

My MIL went on her first one a few weeks back and she absolutely loved it. The views she sent during her two week venture were so breathtaking. But that’s a lot of water to be floating on, man. A lot, a lot. And even though it’s a huge area, I’d still feel claustrophobic on the ship. Just not something I’d ever be interested in doing, not even for the views.
nudistsueaz · 61-69, F
That's a wonderful cruise, you will enjoy it
@nudistsueaz Way out of our price range but definitely another day!
deadteddy · 26-30, F
I’m not sure, I have motion sickness not sure if it would be good for me
@deadteddy Same, would take a tablet though!
@deadteddy Wondered that too, but we got these little patches from the Dr that went behind our ear. They either worked or I wasnt destined to get seasick, either way it was good!
Yup, did a week long cruise on Caribbean from Seattle to Alaska. Loved every bit of it, except Seattle. That city has really gone down the shitter in the last few years.

Food was good, loved the sushi too and cabin was on outside and had unobstructed view. Had a storm the second day, didnt feel it except slightly when we were on lower decks, otherwise peaceful. Had balcony door open almost every chance we were in our cabin - which was rare - so we heard the ocean waves and slept like a baby. Yes, the departure times from each port (4 to be exact) are adhered to, but its because they have a strict schedule and get charged a ton of money if they leave late. If a person cannot make it back to the boat after its been in port for seversl hours, thats on them, not the ship. The entertainment is pretty good actually, saw a broadway show however bands were above average unfortunately. And if something happens medically, there is a medical staff that will help you until youre better, or they can get you to a hospital.

All in all, definitely will be doing another soon, thinking Mexico, Bahamas next.
Tminus6453 · M
Heck yeah!...best/most fun vacation i ever took!
@Tminus6453 That's what I want to hear!
Tminus6453 · M
@BritishFailedAesthetic Go with a buddy, dont take a girlfriend or wife and you'll have much more fun..lol
@Tminus6453 Yeah, I don't think my wife would see eye to eye with your view!
FloorGenAdm · 51-55, M
I'm not allowed to do stuff like that.
@FloorGenAdm Sorry to hear that!
FloorGenAdm · 51-55, M
@BritishFailedAesthetic I mean if you're payin for my ticket maybe I can go.
@FloorGenAdm Nah 🤭
Crusher69 · 61-69, M
I went on one and hated it - crowds at meal times with queues and it you are single its a bit of a mission around meal times. I went to the buffet breakfast on one trip - fought my way to get something and eventually found a table, put down my food and went back to fetch something and a couple politely moved my food to one side and took my table. It all became just too hard......
@Crusher69 That doesn't sound fun!
I'd love to go on round the world on a 14-berth ocean-going sailboat, stop long enough in ports to really see something of the countries and their cultures. I think my husband would love it too.
Would like to be one of the cooks and lend a hand with the lighter jobs.
Big cruisers use too much fossil fuel, are petri dishes for bugs like covid. And nasty polluters of the environment.
@hartfire That's the great thing about a cruise, the stopping places!
1490wayb · 56-60, M
a gigantic floating tin can full of disease and virus" from all around the world
RubySoo · 56-60, F
Id love too. We are hoping to do so soon x
@RubySoo Fingers crossed!

I’ve been on the Disney cruise, was really good fun
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
Hell no. I have seen the Poseidon adventure.
Queendragonfly · 31-35, F
I would find it exciting and I'd love to have a nice view and room. I would bring my bikini sit in the bubble pool a lot and munch breakfast and do all the fun activities and whenever I'm tired I go in yo my room and rest up.
@Queendragonfly Sounds relaxing 👍
SW-User
I love Trek trendy. Yes I have but I’ve only ever gone cruising on P&o cruises. I booked with celebrity once but had to cancel it and never rebooked. I’ll try a river cruise next.
@SW-User Awww man that's a shame!

Yeah there's something about watching luxury travel we can't afford!

Have a drinking game and everytime he says 'Champagne' take a shot 😂
SW-User
@BritishFailedAesthetic His yacht videos are the best. It’s definitely luxury travel. The first class plane videos as well 😂.
Nimbus · M
Oh my, no!
I got sea sick on the cross-channel ferry :(
Nimbus · M
@BritishFailedAesthetic The TT races?
@Nimbus No, never heard of 'em! 🤭
@Nimbus Oops, meant isle of Wright.
exexec · 61-69, C
Yes. I have been on one and would enjoy going on another. We live near Galveston where cruise ships dock, and sometimes cheaper fares come available if the ship is not full.
@exexec Definitely good to bargain hunt!
InHeaven · F
Lol someone invited me to a cruise but I declined ...cause I didn’t want to get vaccinated for some cruise. Didn’t go and don’t regret 🤷‍♀️
@InHeaven Maybe ask them now if the offer is still open 🤭
InHeaven · F
Lol no@BritishFailedAesthetic that would be too embarrassing. Thats ok. I can survive without a cruise 😕
Sevendays · M
I've been on two and had a great time. I'd do it again. I had lots of fun, saw places I'd never been, ate great meals and met some really nice people.
@Sevendays That sounds like the appealing parts of a cruise summarised!
Zeuro · 26-30, F
I went on an Alaskan cruise with my family when I was 13! It was awesome
@Zeuro I can imagine! Always wanted to go on one!
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
No. I suffer from claustrophobia and vertigo, so this would not be fun for me 😞
@SunshineGirl Not for everyone, I'm sure you have fun on holiday doing what you do!
Yes. It’s one thing I always wanted to check out but never got around to.
HumanEarth · 56-60, M
30 years ago yes

Today hell no

There is no freedom in today's travels
@HumanEarth Still restrictions?
Dawgsfan3 · 41-45, M
No. I love being on water but a stomach bug or something could break out on board
SW-User
Been there done that and won't do it again
@SW-User Bad experience?
SW-User
@BritishFailedAesthetic Yes ...just not for me
meggie · F
No I'd hate being stuck on board
Zeuro · 26-30, F
@meggie I mean they’re so big and there’s lots of stuff to do, plus you do make stops
meggie · F
@Zeuro I'm sure but it's not my dream holiday
Bumbles · 51-55, M
I’d rather stay at an airport Marriott with a bar.
@Bumbles Not a Mariott but do go to an ibis or premeir inn before a flight!
Probably not that one.
@Spoiledbrat Aww man, why not, looks so fun!
@TurtleEclipseOfTheHeart Same here, maybe one day!
PinkMoon · 26-30, F
ChadJNSD · 31-35, M
Be stuck on a cruise ship with a bunch of strangers with no manners? Fck that. GIve me the wilderness.
Jimmy2016 · 61-69, M
🤔..........Nope. I would rather get away from people than be stuck on a ship with 2,000 people..........
The Norweigan Fjords one
@V00doo Nice, never been on one myself, any good?
@BritishFailedAesthetic Ah, no. Would like to go
@V00doo Same here!
Around Antarctica in the summer of course.
@Nihiless Sounds like a plan!
Zonuss · 41-45, M
I did before.
It was a great trip. 🚢🚢🚢
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
That looks pretty nice but I am not sure if I would.
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
@BritishFailedAesthetic I think it would be nice to dock at different places to visit though. It does have its benefits too.
@iamonfire696 That's the thing, that wouldn't be fun to do on a plane! 😅
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
@BritishFailedAesthetic haha, no that would not be fun on a plane
empanadas · 31-35, M
I wouldnt mind going on one if the internet is good and not spotty.

@MarmeeMarch I'm talking hypothetically, presumably like me you cannot afford one 😅.
