In mid to good hotels the keys only open a specific door. In poor hotels with cheap key systems the keys will sometimes be programmed to open multiple doors because of poor systems design. It’s also possible the desk clerk completely screwed up and made you a maids key. I’ve fired desk clerks for doing that.

That's creepy.. At the last hotel I stayed at they used a password door lock system, that was a bit unsettling too 😂

@SW-User I know. And now when I shower in a hotel I wonder if done one is going to get in 😕

That is not normal whatsoever. It can only be explained by the fact you were inadvertently given a master key card.
I’m quite aware of and certain of my words.

Staff carry a master key. Top staff have access to a grand-master key for making more master keys. Sometimes wrong room numbers are assigned. Staff error.

That's discouraging information.
Maybe it wasn't locked?

@Mamapolo2016 No it beeped and flashed green. That’s all I think about now when I take a hotel shower. 😬

Maybe you have magic powers

@SW-User I wish. I wouldn’t be using them for that!
SW-User
@SarahPP what would you be using them for? :)

@SW-User Right now? Producing cake out of nowhere.

Wow!! I wonder if they accidentally gave you a card like the hotel staff uses?
SW-User
