But that's the thing. Those who act out can't say 'no.' It's so deeply ingrained that, without serious therapy to teach them to not act on their thoughts, it's always present. For some it's a brain hiccup and for others, particularly pedophiles, it comes from their own life experiences. And the reality is that some just hate and need power over someone else. I think it's part of the human condition and has always been present throughout the world. With a lot of things we can get in front of it and focus on the cause to change an outcome. Not sure that's the case with violent sexual crime. We can punish the perpetrators but that doesn't negate what happens to the victims. A no win situation.

@DIABLISS I was involved in an experimental drama therapy program to try and teach pedophiles in prison to not recommit their crimes. This was in bad prisons with bad people. Why you would tell someone you don't know what their experience is, or isn't, is something I don't get. Have a good one.
@Ynotisay because everyone here claims to be an expert at everything. it is nauseating. it reminds me of the Jon Lovitz character...the actor. Then they start spewing out nonsense that people claim is fact because it was on a movie. Movie psychology and medicine and law and everything else is made up on tv and movies.

A good number of them have severe mental disorders which require lifelong treatment. Unfortunately, in our society, there is such a stigma against admitting to having such dark impulses that they feel alone, and thus do not seek out treatment for their mental illness until they have inflicted irreparable damage on one or more human beings.
